flyers are rolling. first in the east. and the defending east champs. really hoping they take it all this year. or if not, would love to bow out to the wings in the finals. it would be an honor.

michigan basketball looked dope today. with no seniors, they played really well against a #2 ranked undefeated ohio state team. and they have kept it close with other ranked opponents all season, such as their 6 point loss to #3 kansas last week. looking forward to more success on the court from the maize and blue.

im gonna go ahead and like the hiring of brady hoke. i was in favor of giving richrod another year. there was nobody really out there to hire. would of loved to have les miles. but there really is no reason for him to come to michigan. it would be a step back. we all know the sec is king. his goal should be to win titles, and to do that, you need to be in the sec. as for the hokester, he is a michigan man which is always a good thing, and i just kinda like his demeanor. and san diego state was a legit squad this year. hopefully he can get michigan to the level sooner rather than later.

We did it. We made it. Against all odds. Stanley Cups Finals. Got in on a shootout win in Game 82. Beat the favored Devils in 5. Came back from 0-3 against the Bruins, then from 0-3 in Game 7. Oh, and we lost our goalie in the middle of Game 5, and had to switch from Brian Boucher to Mikey Leighton. Then we took down the Cinderella Canadiens in a mere 5 games in the Eastern Conference Finals. No big deal. On to the Stanley Cup Finals to play the highly favored Blackhawks. I'm sooo pumped. This is about to be sooo awesome. It's FLYERTIME babyy. I tried to tell everyone from the beginning, but they wouldn't listen. Here we are. Time to convert. Let's get it.

#2 Blackhawks vs #7 Flyers

Great matchup. These two teams are really even. We're gonna see a better series than we would have if it was any of the other three potential matchups. Two hot goalies. Two young leading captains, both with gold medals already this year. But I think this series comes down to the defense. I would say the goalies are about even. And though many would disagree, the offensive firepower is the same. Richards cancels out Toews. Carter to Kane. Briere, Giroux, and Gagne. Sharp, Bolland, and Big Buff. They're equals. Though I give the edge in defense to the Flyers. Although the Norris trophy voters wouldnt agree, at least come playoff time, I would take Chris Pronger over Duncan Keith. Then I would also take Timmo over Seabrook, Carle and Coburn are about equal to Campbell and Sopel. Obviously I'm going to take the Flyers no matter what. But I'm actually insanely confident. They are the better team. The Hawks are favored because of the regular season and Original Six status. And they have the bigger names. Though the Flyers are finally healthy. Look at the roster. Big night tonight in sports. We have three big game twos in the conference finals. Two in the NHL, and one in the NBA. The Flyers and Blackhawks try to take a 2-0 series lead on their opponents, the Canadiens and Sharks, while the Magic try to even their series at 1 with the Celtics. Let's break it down..

Game 2: Blackhawks at Sharks

Hawks took a 1-0 lead on Sunday with their crazy good road-skills. However, the Sharks were pretty rusty, and they still looked much better than the Hawks. I don't see Niemi putting on another insane show like he did in game one. Give me the Sharks at home here to tie up the series. Sharks 5, Hawks 2

Game 2: Canadiens at Flyers

Gotta love my Flyers here. We just don't lose at the Wachovia Center. The Canadiens won't be able to shut down our offense. We don't have one line that scores all our goals. They all contribute. And it's tough to concentrate on three different lines. Plus, being backstopped by Chris Pronger and Michael Leighton, the Habs won't exactly be putting the puck in as much as they would like. Probably won't be as much of a shitshow, but come on. Flyers babyyy. Flyers 4, Habs 2

Game 2: Celtics at Magic

I don't know all that much about the NBA. But I have seen the different trends by teams. I don't see the Magic dropping two in a row at home. Especially after coming off an eight game win streak. Dwight Howard will play much better than in game one. Magic 101, Celtics 87

Game 2: Red Sox at Yankees

Second game of this series, and a battle of the aces. Josh Beckett vs CC Sabathia. Beckett has struggled big time this year. I would know, with him being on my fantasy team and all. Super awesome 7.46 ERA. Gave up 9 earned runs last start over 5.1 innings. And that was against the Yankees also. But I see him getting it turned around right now. And that's not just my fantasy ego. He'll go 7+ innings, give up 2 earned runs with 8, no 9 K's. Don't forget he'll pick up the W too. Red Sox 7, Yankees 3

So that was awesome. 6-0 game one win for the Flyers. We looked so insanely dominant, it made some think this won't even be a series. Halak got yanked after four goals. What did I say? Hahaa, gosh I'm awesome. And dad said if they make the finals, he'll take me to Philly to see at least one game at the Wachovia. He know's I'm a true diehard. And I can't really think of a better 18th birthday present :) FLYERS.

Hawks looked like a inferior team to the Sharks, except Niemi stole the game. Once again, the Sharks come up short in a playoff game. I think the Flyers can take the Hawks, but I'm kind of afraid of the Sharks. Plus, if they play the Hawks in the finals, you know I'm taking a train to Chicago, and the UP is taking me to at least one game.. nasty shit. I love you FLYERS.

Nationals are looking legit, son. They had a bad weekend against the Rockies. But for being dead last the last two years, being 2nd or 3rd in the NL Wild Card race isn't too bad. Not to mention we haven't even brought up Strasburg up yet, nor have we spent our 1st overall pick from being dead last last year. Probably on Bryce Harper. MLB, get fucking readyyyy.

Ryan Zimmerman is the best player in baseball. He's missed 10+ games from injuries, yet still has 23 RBI's in mid-May, and is batting .330 with 8 homers.

With no NHL on tonight, I may watch some NBA playoffs. Lakers and Suns looks like a legit matchup. Of course I won't turn it on till at least the 2nd half. But still.. me watching the NBA?? Haahaa.

I'm feeling the Suns here for some reason. I don't know why. Just one of those things that I haven't felt in a while for predicting an upset. Last would be the Pens over the Wings in Game 7. Sure that was terrible, but I felt it coming. And it sucked. I feel this one. Defending champs out right here...

I guess I'll take the Magic here. I was hoping they would sweep to go 12-0 into the Finals. But they already lost Game 1 at home. But I'll stick with them. Despite taking the Celtics to the Finals in my preseason prediction.

I don't know if Tiger Woods will ever be the same. It's like he's not taking it seriously anymore. He doesn't want to win as badly. It's weird. Different demeanor. If he doesn't change it, he will never be the same. Look out for Phil now...

Thee Conference Finals

We did it. Flyers made history. The NHL said "History will be made", and damn was it made. Down 0-3, the Flyers became the third team in NHL history to come back and win a series 4-3. And I never lost confidence. I thought the Wings had a better shot at coming back from 0-3, just because they're the Wings. And they were playing the Sharks. But we injured two of the Bruins best forwards for the rest of the playoffs, therefore suffocating their offense. They tried to retaliate by knocking out our goalie Brian Boucher, but little did they know we had Michael Leighton waiting in the wings. Hahaa. I love this. And we get to skip over the Penguins this year, thanks to the Canadiens. We matchup so well against the Habs. It's about to be soooo awesome. FLYERS bitchesss. FLYERS.

#1 Sharks vs #2 Blackhawks

The Sharks? Haha. They actually advanced past the Red Wings. Legitly? That can be debated. I thought the Wings may have lost a game or two due to reffing. But that's me. And irrelevant now. Sharks are here against the lower seeded, yet favored Blackhawks. I pretty much like the Sharks in every category. Nabakov over Niemi. Thornton, Marleau, and Heatley over Toews, Kane, and Sharp. But the Hawks are the more clutch team. No ref help this round. Hawks in 7

#7 Flyers vs #8 Canadiens

Who would have thought? A 7 vs 8 seed in the conference finals. The two teams that just barely squeaked into the playoffs. No Ovechkin. And thank the Lord, no Crosby. As for this matchup, the Habs are fucked. I see a repeat of 2008's 2nd round between these two teams. The Flyers mainly dominated, winning in five games. I think the Canadiens are better this time around. Even though they were a #1 seed back then, and are a #8 now. Halak is playing insane, but I don't see it continuing with the way the Flyers play. They crash the net. Rebounds. Dirty goals. Not like the Pens and Caps trying to snipe corners. We're different. That can be good or bad. But in this case, it's good. No more super Halak. It won't be a sweep. I think they Habs may pick up a home win. But just know know in the end, my Flyers will be in the Cup Finals bitches. FLYERS in 6

I actually just read through my blog and saw that I was supposed to have a new way of doing things. The short separated paragraphs. So yeahh, I'll be getting back to that now. I like that style better then one huge blob.

The Wings will be fine. They have now fallen behind the Sharks 2-0. Yet, they are the Wings, and San Jose is the Sharks. The refs absolutely jewed the Wings last night in game two, and gave the Sharks some of the most bullshit diving calls in the world. It was like watching my team play Paulus. I'm sticking with my Wings in 6.

The Flyers will be fine. They were rusty. And still forced overtime. Eight days off is a lot. Just coming right back and dominating again is tough. Tuukka Rask is so overrated its a joke. He's decent, but get off his dick. Boucher will be better, our D will be better, and our offense will be better than our 4 goal showing in game one. I'm looking for 6+ tonight. Soooo pumped.

The Pens may not be fine. I have a ton of confidence in the them, despite the fact that I hate them more than Satan. If they would have won game two, I basically would have just handed them the series. But they didn't win. They lost at home. And scored only one goal. Halak looked insane again. Going back to Montreal for two games, they should be very scared...

The Blackhawks are fucked. I took them to lose in seven, but I'm now thinking five. They looked terrible. And Luongo didn't. I don't see this series getting competitive at all..

As for the NBA, we know there won't be any surprises. Which is why it sucks until, and maybe even through, the Finals. Lakers over Jazz, Spurs over Suns, Magic over Hawks, and I guess Cavs over Celtics. Though I'm gonna stick with my preseason Spurs over Celtics. I dunno. But who cares. It's the NBA..

You know I'm going with the Wings here. Took them in the beginning. Took them each of the last three years. And I'm not changing now. They had a decent showing in the first round. But the Sharks were terrible against the young Avalanche, and I dont see their big line stepping up anytime soon. The Red Wings are the best team in hockey. No question. Wings in 6

#2 Blackhawks vs #3 Canucks

The Hawks didn't look very good to me in round one. The Preds were shutting them down. And there is no way they should have won game five. The Canucks were in a dogfight with the Kings, and they're looking hot at the right time. Plus, they actually have a goalie. Canucks in 7

#4 Penguins vs #8 Canadiens

Crosby against his boyhood team. Oh boy. We care. But hey, the Pens are just a playoff team now. As much as I hate them, they can pull off playoff W's. I know the Habs are hot and coming off that huge upset, but I don't see them doing anything. I pray that they will pull the upset. Or even just injure Crosby. But probably not. Pens in 5

#6 Bruins vs #7 Flyers

My boysss. In the second round. No one thought we'd be here. And I definitely didn't see the Bruins pulling their upset. So this is a pretty crazy matchup. Winter Classic rematch. I'm excited to see this one go down. Boucher is playing out of his mind right now. Top GAA and save percentage, as well as record (4-1), after the first round. I think we can put the puck in the net against Mr. Tukka Rask. I see us continuing this improbable run despite our huge injury list, including forwards Jeff Carter, Simon Gagne, and Ian Laperierre. Round One Recap

Nasty to see the Flyers advance in 5 games, and 2 days before any other team. We lost Carter for the rest of the playoffs now, and that is really going to hurt us. We also lost Gagne for 3 weeks, which is pretty much going to be the whole playoffs unless we advance super far. The Devils were pretty much a joke. Not a playoff team. We had their number all year. 5-1 in the regular season, and then 4-1 in the postseason. Boucher played insanely well, and I really knew he would. Sports Illustrated rated him as the worst goalie in the playoffs. And I laughed. We're proving them wrong. And I love it. Mike Richards has been the MVP so far. Not to mention Dan Carcillo has put in some insanely clutch goals, including an overtime winner. It's looking like we're gonna play the top seeded Capitals in the second round, and I honestly think we can knock them off as well. They're having some trouble with the 8th seeded Canadiens. The two teams that I really don't think we would beat in a seven game series is the Penguins and Red Wings. They're both just too good and playoff clutch. The Pens dominated us this year in the regular season. And the Wings are just too good in the playoffs. They should win it again. However, they're having some real trouble with the higher seeded Coyotes, heading into game 7 now. So that should be crazyyy. The Pens, Sharks, and Canucks have all advanced as well. And to be honest, the only lower seed I didnt really give a chance going into the playoffs was the Bruins, who went up 3-1 on the Sabers. So they proved me wrong as well, even if they end up losing their now 3-2 series lead. I'm done now. Excited to see my boys in round 2. And hope the Wings are there too. And like I said at the beginning, obviously I want the Flyers to win, and then the Wings are a very close second, but I'll be okay with anyone winning this year, except the Penguins. Fuck the Pens. CROSBY SUCKS.

Wow, Miami looked awesome last night against Florida State. And what an insane game to watch too. From beginning to end. The whole time, I never lost confidence in my boys, that we were going to pull out the win. Amazing though. And when time expired, for a second I thought that the Florida State reciever caught the ball in the endzone. Insane. Graig Cooper was amazing, not just running the ball, but on the kick returns too. What speed man... I liked both Benjamin and Hankerson as recievers. Benjamin was the one with the nice catches, and Hankerson was the one that was able to pick up the clutch yards after the catch. That guy can make the first guy miss with his speed, then lower his shoulder into the next guy and drive him back another five yards. But my boy of the game was undoubtedly Jacory Harris. So many times he put the ball right on the money. His best throw of the night was the 50 yard strike to Benjamin when he got down to the 3 yard line. That was thee best throw I've seen so far this year. Perfection. And he's only a sophmore. I'm sure that Miami isn't done now though. We face #15 Georiga Tech next Thursday night, which will be another ESPN-televised thriller. Then it's off to #14 Virginia Tech and #13 Oklahoma; both of whom were in the top ten before today. Anyways, that win keep us alive in the National Championship race (I guess, right BCS?), and gave us a clutch conference win. I predicted an ACC Championship for this team this season, and I expect us to win it. And after being unranked in the preseason poll, I was kind of nervous going up against four Top 25 teams in the first four weeks of our season. All we can do play em, and win em. And keep moving up.

The San Francisco Giants will be very dangerous if they end up winning the wild card. With the one-two punch of Lincecum and Cain, they could easily grab a 2-0 lead on the road in any given series. I would be very afriad of them if they were my NLDS opponent.

The Marlins are fading fast. They passed up the Braves to take 3rd place in the wild card chase. Though with Hanley Ramirez and Dan Uggla hurt, I just don't know if I see them making the playoffs. Though I reallllly hope they do. And you know that if they do make the playoffs, they will be World Series Champs. Just as I predicted from Day One.

Tigers looked good last night too, topping the Rays 8-6. If they can keep that run production up, they'll hold this six game lead, and be a threat in the playoffs.

I really hope the Rangers get the wild card. I just want to see someone else play playoff baseball other than the Red Sox, ya know?

I actaully kinda wish the Cubs were doing better. I like watching them in the playoffs. I think in my head I root for them. Just because I love the upsets, and the Cubs doing anything good in the playoffs has to be an upset by now...

The Dodgers will choke in the playoffs. You saw it here first. They don't have the IT factor. First round, they're gone. I promise.

Michigan looked good today with Tate Forcier under center. This may be the start of an era. And how about Mike Martin?

I was very happy to see Oklahoma lose to BYU. Actually watched the game, and was rooting against OU the whole time. Love the upsets. And what the hell was Bradford thinking coming back to school. Giving up being the number one pick and millions of dollars for this? He has absolutely no line now, just like I've been saying, and he will suffer majorly, just like he did tonight, when he was injured in the first quarter for the rest of the game. And probably more.

Looking forward to Miami facing Florida State on Monday night. We usually don't fare very well in that first Monday nighter against FSU, though this year will be different. This year, we take back the ACC. Just watch.

INSANELY pumped for Thursday Night Football, when the NFL season kicks off with the Titans and Steelers. Nothing really needs to be said. I'll do most of the talking to the tv set. At the top of my lungs. Go Titans.

GAME 7: Capitals over Rangers

I had the Rangers at the beginning of this series, and I still think that they have the better team, but though the Caps have too much momentum now going into Game 7. And it's in Washington. I see them winning tonight.

GAME 7: Devils over Hurricanes

I had the Devils at the beginning of this series, though I had them winning easily in 5 games. Some could argue that Game 4 loss, but in the end, here we are in the seventh. I definitely know that the Devils have the better team, and I like them taking this one in New Jersey.

GAME 5: Celtics (-8) over Bulls

I like the Celtics to win by a large margin tonight. They're at home. I don't see them dropping another in Boston for the rest of this series. I really don't see them losing again at all in this series, though there's a small chance that the Bulls could pull something in Game 6 in Chicago. Though in the end, they're the Celtics. But you'll see me rooting for the upset all day.

GAME 5: Spurs (-5.5) over Mavericks

No way the Spurs bow out at home. If they would have had Manu, then I would have had them winning it all. I still had them getting to the second round without him though, though that's not looking good at all right now. I'm looking for a blow out here for a grand finale for the fans for this season before they drop Game 6 in Dallas.

GAME 5: Rockets (+5.5) over Trail Blazers

I like the Rockets to close this series tonight. The Blazers are a talented, but very young team. Yao is too much for them. Plus, most of these game have gone down to the wire, so why not take 5 and a half points?

NBA Playoffs 2009

I'm actually on a three year streak in the NBA on picking the champ before the playoffs start. Last year was pretty obvious with the Celts. Then in '07 the Spurs won, and in '06 it was the Heat. Anyways, here's this years picks.

#1 Cavaliers vs #8 Pistons

I still really have a lot of confidence in the Pistons, but I don't see them winning here. If they did pull this extreme upset, it wouldn't really surprize me all that much. At least not compared to the rest of the sporting world. But here, I gotta go with King James. Cavs in 5.

#2 Celtics vs #7 Bulls

No KG will hurt the Celtics insanely. It will kick in a little bit this round, when the Bulls pull out a few surprize wins, but it won't kill them until the second round. Plus, they still do have a good lineup with Pierce, Ray Allen, Rajon, Big Baby, Perkins, Powe, House, Marbury, etc. Celtics in 6.

#3 Magic vs #6 76ers

I just don't think that the Magic are all that great. The Pistons have pretty much owned them this year, and the Pistons have sucked this year. I know I'm pretty much alone in doubting the Magic, but hey, I do. Maybe taking the Sixers is a little bias because they're my favorite team, but hey, I'm taking who I think will win. Sixers in 6.

#4 Hawks vs #5 Heat

I don't know, I just like the Heat here. D-Wade is honestly a completely different person when it's playoff time. He the gamebreaker. And the Hawks seemingly lack one. And don't try to tell me it's Mike Bibby. Heat in 7.

#1 Lakers vs #8 Jazz

How did the Jazz fall this far? I was going to take them to go really far in the playoffs. But not with this first round matchup. Lakers in 5.

#2 Nuggets vs #7 Hornets

I wish the Pistons still had Billups. He's a beast. He will lead the Nuggets past the Hornets, not Carmelo. Nuggets in 6.

#3 Spurs vs #6 Mavericks

I just don't like the Mavs all that much. and I defintely do like the Spurs. No way Tim Duncan and Gregg Poppovich lose in the first round. Spurs in 6.

#4 Trail Blazers vs #5 Rockets

The Blazers are too young and inexperienced to top a veteran and T-Mac-less Rockets team. He'll get out of the first round this year. except he'll be on the bench when it happens. How ironic. Rockets in 6.

NHL Playoffs 2009

Hey, I just wanted to get a real quick NHL Playoff Preview in here. I also would like to note that I am on a two year streak of correctly predicting the Stanley Cup winner before the playoffs start. So yeah, I'm expecting to do just as well this year. And I'm pretty sure I will.

#1 Sharks vs #8 Ducks

I'm really glad that the Wings didn't get the Ducks. They're a really experienced, and very physical team. They'll definitely win a few games in this series, but in the end, it has to be the Sharks. Sharks in 6.

#2 Red Wings vs #7 Blue Jackets

This is an all-day one. No question. It will be an over-powering manslaughter. And the Jackets should consider themselves lucky that they're even getting one win in my predictions. Wings in 5.

#3 Canucks vs #6 Blues

I don't know how the Blues got a six seed. They have a lot of injuries, and I really don't see them hanging in here. And Luongo is a beast. Canucks in 5.

#4 Blackhawks vs #5 Flames

The Hawks have been one of those teams that I have doubted all year. The Flames have been one of those team that I have been afriad of all year. But each have seemingly proved me wrong recently. But I'm sticking with my gut. Flames in 7.

#1 Bruins vs #8 Canadiens

I don't really like the Bruins. I don't see them making the Eastern Conference Finals. If this was the Rangers here, I would take the Rangers. But, the Canadiens are too weak to take out the Bruins. But they'll hang in there. Bruins in 6.

#2 Capitals vs #7 Rangers

My upset. The Capitals don't have a goalie. They also lack experience, and overall, I just don't like them very much. Though the Rangers, I do like. They went out and signed the beasts Scott Gomez and Chris Drury two years ago, and now is when it pays off. And I also really like King Henrik. Rangers in 6.

#3 Devils vs #6 Hurricanes

I don't like the Hurricanes either. Cam Ward just isn't what he was during that 2006 playoff run. And the Devils are too experienced and good to lose to this Canes team in the first round. Devils in 6.

#4 Penguins vs #5 Flyers

My Fly Boys. Almost everyone I know took the Pens. But I have to take my boys. All day. And I think we will win too. It will be tough though. The Pens were the one team that I really didn't want to play coming in because they were coming in really hot and they are just a flat out really good team. Though in the end, Philly will prevail. Grind it out kinda series. Flyers in 7.

MLB Preview

Already, it's already time for the MLB season to start up again, and it's time for me to take totally unnecessary predictions about what will happen in this up coming season. When it comes to the MLB, I'm not really that great at preseason predicting, but hey, here it goes.

AL East:

1. New York Yankees

After all those offseason moves, you gotta believe that it will at least result in a division championship. C.C. Sabathia is a beast, as long as he can get in his groove. I kept an extra close eye on him last year, with him being on my fantasy team and all, and it took him a few months to get in that groove, though when he finally did, he was pretty much unstoppable, throwing complete games and having a near perfect record. Mark Texiera and AJ Burnett were also valuble pickups. I think that they will pretty much keep pace in the division for the first couple months, and then once they get A-Rod back, they'll break away.

2. Boston Red Sox

These guys have the more veteran and experienced and lineup, and that will help them prevail when it comes down to locking up that wild card. They picked up a few good players such as Brad Penny and Rocco Baldelli, though other than that, they basically have the same roster that took them to the ALCS last year.

3. Tampa Bay Rays

Still a very talented group, though this year they get left out of the mix thanks to the Yankees spending spree. With their lone pickup being DH Pat Burrell, a late season trade will be needed if they want to be a part of the postseason again this year.

4. Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays had no major signings this offseason, and really did nothing to try and replace AJ Burnett's place in the rotation. Roy Halladay is still a viable ace, and Jesse Litsch is a decent starter, though they will now be starting two rookies in their rotation with righty Brad Mills and lefty Ricky Romero. I don't see the Blue Jays being even a wild card threat in this upcoming season, unless manager Cito Gaston can work wonders with this lineup.

5. Baltimore Orioles

Although the Orioles did not spend anywhere neat the amount of money that the Yankees did this offseason, they picked up nearly three times as many players as the Yankees did. Four of the Orioles five starters in their rotation are new to Baltimore. Only their ace Jeremy Guthrie was an Oriole starter last year. The Orioles also have a new starting catcher, shortstop, and left fielder, which leads to questions about chemistry between the players, as well as questions about talent in general.

AL Central:

1. Detroit Tigers

Many people don't like this Tigers lineup after what they saw last year, though I would have to disagree. This team has less talent that last year's team. This team has much more questions than last year's team did. However, I like this team better than last year's team. They signed two catchers which let them put Brandon Inge back at third base, where is an absolute beast on defense. They still have one of the top five outfields in baseball with Magglio Ordonez, Curtis Granderson, and Carlos Guillen. With the addition of Edwin Jackson, they now have five legitimate starters, and their bullpen is looking better after getting rid of Todd Jones. This team isn't ultra-talented or a World Series contender, but I do like them to win the worst division in baseball.

2. Chicago White Sox

Their lineup is getting older, and isn't what they used to be in 2005, though they still do a lot of talent, and of course, loads of experience. They have very young players at second and third base, though they have a great one-two punch in their outfield with upstart Carlos Quentin and veteran Jermaine Dye. Adding Barloto Colon to their rotation helped them move up to second best in the AL Central.

3. Minnesota Twins

The Twins basically return the same lineup as last year, with the addition of third baseman Joe Crede. With Joe Mauer being hurt early, and just an average rotation, I expect the Twins to be in the mix late, though a lack of a big-time pitcher will cost them a shot at the playoffs.

4. Cleveland Indians

You have to believe that Cliff Lee will at least come down a little bit after last year's amazing 22-3 performance. Fausto Carmona and Carl Pavano will be there to keep the Indians in the race, though lack of offense will end up costing them, with no one really outside of Grady Sizemore and Travis Hafner. I also like the third baseman pickup of Mark DeRosa, but it won't be enough.

5. Kansas City Royals

The first half of the season, I expect KC to be in the race, just like everyone else, though over time a lack of star power will end up costing them a shot at the divsion title. The pickup of Coco Crisp in centerfield should help, but that isn't what is going to get them over the top.

AL West:

1. Los Angeles Angels

An easy pick for a division winner here. They basically return the same lineup that won them the divsion crown last year, minus Mark Texiera, though they did add Bobby Abreu in left field. They have a top notch rotation that should be able to easily lead them into October once again. Brian Fuentes replacing K-Rod was also (although a downgrade) a great move.

2. Oakland Athletics

The A's made many moves this offseason once again, including a great move with the Rockies in aquiring Matt Holliday. Oakland also looked to add some veteram leadership in the clubhouse by adding Jason Giambi, Nomar Garciaparra, and Orlando Cabrera. Those moves will help Oakland stay in the division race for a while, and maybe even compete for a wild card, but a questionable rotation will keep them out of the 2009 postseason.

3. Texas Rangers

The Rangers have plenty of offense this year. Just like last year. Though unfourtunately, just like last year, the Rangers have a very weak rotation that will cost them down the strech. Although they have big names such as All-Stars Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler, and Michael Young, the Rangers failed to make a single aquistion this offseason to help improve their playoff chances.

4. Seattle Mariners

Ichiro should be happy that his Japanese squad won the World Baseball Classic, because he defintely won't be enjoying any championships with his Mariners teammates this season. Seattle did make quite a few moves during the offseason, though it definitely isn't enough to get them out of the cellar of this division. The addition of Ken Griffey Jr. was to sell tickets, not to help Seattle get back into the playoffs. A solid start to their rotation with King Felix and Erik Bedard, isn't enough to get the Mariners anywhere close to the AL West title.

NL East:

1. Florida Marlins

That's right. Believe in the power of six. It seems as though every six years the Marlins pull together, with a fantastic group young future stars and a couple cheap veterans, and win the World Series. Well, this is the sixth year, and Florida will settle for nothing less than a playoff berth. An anonymous but solid rotation backed by some vets, and of course the bright young prospects, will be able to stun everyone once again when they take the NL East crown.

2. New York Mets

The Mets will lose out on a division championship once again, but this time, they will have had a good enough season to get into the playoffs on a wild card bid. A veteran lineup, and solid rotation with the addition of Livan Hernandez, will allow those ailing Mets fans to taste at least a little bit of the playoffs in 2009.

3. Philadelphia Phillies

The defending World Series champs will have to miss out on the playoffs in 2009, and they won't be able to try to defend their title. With all their stars returning from last year's championship team, they have enough talent to get the job done, but with loads of talent in the division and a lack of hunger, they miss the 2009 playoffs.

4. Atlanta Braves

The Braves were one of the hottest teams in spring training, though a complete overhaul of their rotation will lead to problems. They are starting a rookie out of Japan, as well as the anchient Tom Glavine. Jair Jurrjens is a nice piece, but they really don't have the talent to get the job done. And expect Chipper Jones to bat .400 through the first four months again either.

5. Washington Nationals

Too many egos and problem players, as well as a general lack of talent will keep the Nationals from getting anywhere close to their playoff goals. Two rookies and two newcomers in the rotation, and two young talented outfielders that were kicked off their previous teams for off-the-field issues shows how much trouble Washington has fielding a team. Signing Adam Dunn was a fantastic try, though not even that will save them from the cellar. Even their young franchise player Ryan Zimmerman has been slipping lately.

NL Central:

1. Chicago Cubs

Oh those Cubbies. Looks like they'll be back in the playoffs once again to try to win that ring that they have sought after for so long. Their main move this offseason was adding rightfielder Milton Bradley, who should help bring some consistency to their batting order with his .321 average last year. Look for another division title, and another chance for them to try and make history.

2. St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals may have less talent and all-around depth than the Brewers, though what they do have is veterans that can lead the way, as well as one of the best managers in baseball in Tony La Russa. A decent rotation should guide along a lineup with a duo of upstart power-hitters in Ryan Ludwick and rick Ankiel. And when things are looking down, just go to maybe the most important player in baseball, Albert Pujols.

3. Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers have almost the same lineup as last year's wild card team, except for one huge change. They lost their best player, C.C. Sabathia to the Yankees in a free agency bidding war. Although his replacement, former Cardinals pitcher Braden Looper is a viable middle-of-the-rotation guy, they lost their star who is now the highest paid pitcher in baseball. Losing Sabathia will cost them any shot at the playoffs.

4. Pittsburgh Pirates

The last three teams in the NL Central are almost a coin flip, so I decided to go with the team with the best offense of the three. Adam LaRoche and Nate McLouth provide the power-hitting needed to get the Pirates out of the cellar of this division, although pitching is stilll a major question with all five of their starters going .500 or worse last year, though a solid bullpen should be able to keep them afloat. However, I really don't see the Pirates ending their 16-year steak of losing seasons...

5. Cincinnati Reds

The Reds do have a lot of talent on their roster, though much of that talent hasn't been fully developed yet, and Cincinnati seems too young to make a run this year. Edinson Volquez and Johnny Cueto are two bright young pitchers in a decent rotation, though they still haven't reached their potential yet. Volquez looked very good last year, though slowed down as the season ended. Though with Dusty Baker at the helm, it shouldn't take too much longer until the Reds become a real threat in the NL Central.

6. Houston Astros

Houston does have some good hitters in their lineup, including Carlos Lee and Lance Berkman, though questions looming about their rotation's depth, as well as just all around talent, will doom the Astros. Pudge was a nice pickup, though I don't see the Astros making any noise come playoff time this season.

NL West:

1. Los Angeles Dodgers

Bringing back Manny did it for me. ManRam alone takes the Dodgers from struggling to stay alive in the division, to division champs. Picking up Orlando Hudson and Randy Wolf is enough to shore up the rest of the team, so that they play decently enough as to not blow Manny's brilliance. No way Joe Torre lets them fall short.

2. Arizona Diamondbacks

They must have led the division for at least 80% of the year last season, and then right when the Dodgers traded for Manny, everything changed. Unfourtunate for the D-Backs, the Dodgers were able to resign Ramirez, while all they could pick up was a second base upgrade in Felipe Lopez. Jon Garland may also be a good upgrade over the departed Randy Johnson. Though a Felipe plus a Jon doesn not come anywhere near equaling a Manny.

3. San Francisco Giants

I like what the Giants did this offseason. They were able to sign ace Tim Lincecum to a one-year deal, they picked up Randy Johnson and Edgar Renteria, and they made a serious play for Manny Ramirez. Even though they fell short of landing Manny, you have to like their rotation now, and many would agree when I say Barry Zito may be the best fourth-man in baseball. However, I don't see the Giants making any threats at the division crown.

4. San Diego Padres

They have fallen quite a ways these last two years, going from a playoff team to the bottom of the NL. Jake Peavy is really the only threat that they have that may scare other teams. Picking up David Eckstein was nice, but no where near enough.

5. Colorado Rockies

My how the Rockies have fallen. It was just 2007 when they were in the World Series, ans now their are right back to the cellar of their division. Aaron Cook is a legitimate starter, and Todd Helton is always a threat, though they won't be able keep up at all this year.

We did it babyyyy! North Carolina won the 2009 National Championship. The second that I heard all five of our starters were foregoing the 2008 NBA Draft to come back to school, I knew that we would win it. Truely, I was hoping for a perfect season, but some injuries and poor play led to four ACC losses. But in the end, it doesn't really matter. We won it all, and that's that. T-Bro won his Championship, and Lawson showed that he is our MVP. It was a fantastic season, and I couldn't be more proud of our guys. Danny Green and T-Bro are graduating, as well as Bobby Frasor and some others, but if Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington decide to come back for next season, I gotta believe that we would be the favorites to win it all again. Lawson was the MVP, and we can't really survive without him, and Wayne was Final Four MOP, and is by far the best shooter on the team, and showed it by being lights-out during the tourney. If them two come back, along with Ed Davis, Deon Thompson, and others, we should be looking pretty good for next year. If not, then we will still be decent, but probably not a Championship contender. Also, I really like Tyler Zeller, and think that he was by far the best freshman in the country, but he didn't really get that much time because he was on the best team in the nation with an established lineup, and he missed over half the season with that broken wrist he suffered in like the second game. To me, he seemed like a Handbrough succeedor, and a good one at that. Anyways, when the season started, I knew that it would be a disappointment with anything less than a national championship, and we were able to deliver. Great season boys. TAR HEELS NATIONAL CHAMPS 2009!!

Going Mad

Wow, it's been a while. I used to blog on here all the time, but I've really stopped in these last five or six months. Anyways, yesterday was Day 1 of March Madness 2009. I ended up going 15 for 16, after starting out 15 for 15. Haha, I had a perfect day going until the last game when Western Kentucky upset Illinois. I ended up going a pool for $3, with a chance of winnning around $75. I also joined a website called CentSports, where you get free cash to bet with. My high so far was $2.94, though right now I'm at about $1.41. Anyways, I just thought that I should get something on here. last night I even had Michigan over Clemson, and Drake a I were going crazy. Thogh Drake was basically because it was a part of his 5-game parlay bet where he can win almost $10. Anyways, today I have Oklahoma State over Tennessee, and Arizona over Utah. That's it for me though. Games just started.

Ten Things I Think I Think

1. My Final Four: #6 North Carolina, #3 Wake Forest, #2 Connecticut, and a somewhat Cinderella. Maybe like a 4 or 6 seed. Probably fromt the Big East though. I really like the Big East again this year. I like Nova, Marquette, Georgetown, and even Notre Dame... though obviously I like UConn best. Or maybe UCLA for the 5th year in a row. Texas is there... and Oklahoma. Time will tell. But not Michigan State or Xavier. Sorry. And not Duke. Hahaaa.

2. Michigan football will have a winning record this year. I like the D-Coordinator hire of the ex-Syracuse coach, and I think they'll be able to have the spread down enough to pull of some wins like Northwestern, Indiana, Minnesota, Purdue, and even Michigan State.

3. Michigan football will not beat Ohio State as long as Terrelle Pryor is their starting quarterback. So basically barring injury or some amazing setback, that means the next three or so years. Ahhh.

4. The Titans great year was not a fluke. They'll be back next year in the playoffs. I don't know if they'll win the division or not, but us Titan fans had to be cheering after he heard Tony Dungy was leaving the helm.

5. The Cardinals will put up a fight in the Super Bowl. I still haven't 100% chosen my pick, though I've heard many people say the Cards will get crushed. No way.

6. The Western Conference finals in the NBA will be just like last years: Spurs and Lakers.

7. The Bruins will choke in the playoffs and not make it to the Eastern Conference finals.

8. The Western Conference finals in the NHL will be the Wings and Sharks. Easy pick there too: Wings in 6.

9. The Magic will choke in the playoffs and the Pistons won't. Actually, count me in for another Conference Finals rematch: Pistons and Celtics with the Celtics in 6.

10. Now that I'm at it, I might as well go for the rest of the NBA Playoffs. Spurs over Lakers in 7, then Spurs over Celtics in 6. Write it down. Or copy and paste. Hahaaa.

Ten Things I Think I Think

I don't really feel like typing anything out, so I'm just going to do ten predictions now about what I think will happen in the sports world's future....

1. Tim Tebow will lead Florida to another national championship in the 2009-10 season

2. Tim Tebow will win his second Heisman in the 2009-10 season

3. The Steelers will beat the Ravens by more than 7 points in this years AFC Championship

4. The Cardinals will go to the Super Bowl, because that Arizona stadium is the land of the upset where whoever you think is going to win won't. (Pats-Giants, OSU-Florida) So I guess the Cards are winning with that logic...

5. Albert Haynesworth will resign with the Titans

6. Pacman Jones won't play in the NFL next season

7. Kerry Collins will resign with the Titans

8. Vince Young will take alot more snaps next year than he did this year

9. North Carolina will still win the National Championship despite two straight ACC losses

10. The Celtics will never quite right the ship back to way it was, and it will allow the Pistons to make the Eastern Conference Finals for the 7th year in a row.

Wild Card Weekend '08

Wow, it's already playoff time in the 2008 NFL season. I really can't believe it. Time flies. And so do the Titans. We ended up having the best record in the league at 13-3, and the Giants lost to move back to 12-4; so basically, we're alone at the top. However, this is about Wild Card Weekend, and we have a nice set of games coming our way. I'm definitely pumped for the Vikings and Eagles, simply because of the fact that Drake is Vikingmania, and his entire week has revolved around this game. The Colts and Chargers should be a good one too, with both teams coming in with huge win streaks. I'm looking forward to watching the Ravens and Dolphins as well, though I'm not too sure about how good of a game it will be, mainly because I think that it really won't be all that close. However, I'm really not looking forward to the Falcons and Cardinals game all that much. Both of those teams suck, and I really do hate both of them. Neither should be in the playoffs either. Then whoever wins that game is going to get blown out in the next round by either the Panthers or Giants. Anyways, that's just how I feel about the games... here's what I think is going to happen...

Falcons at Cardinals

The matchup of the birdies. I really don't like either of these teams, and like I said, whoever is lucky enough to win this one will get blown out in the Divisional round. Anyways, with the Cardinals losing four of their last five games, I lost alot of confidence I had in their team. Then I stepped back and took a look at the big picture. They had six automatic easy in-division wins with two against the 49ers, two on the Seahawks, and two over the Rams, who are all jokes this year. So they're 3-7 outside of the division (against decent teams) which helped me to realize the mirage of the Arizona Cardinals. Sure, the Falcons are a pretty good team and they absolutely completely stunned me this year by even getting five wins let alone eleven (they were my preseason pick for the most likely 0-16, ha); it's just that I dont think they'll be able to compete against (let alone in) Carolina or New York. I've got the Falcons in this high scoring one...

Colts at Chargers

Definitely looking forward to this one. A nice rematch of last year's divisonals. They are also both on big-time winstreaks with the Chargers up to four and the Colts on an amazing nine game winstreak. So we know they're both playing their best ball coming into this one, which is rare for the Colts come playoff time, because usually they're are able to (and rightly so) take off the last few weeks or so of the regular season because they have things locked up, and they don't want any key players injured. However, they now have (kinda) everybody healthy, and the Chargers (kinda) do not. Anyways, in a nutshell, I have lost alot of confidence in the Charge over the course of the regular season, plus you gotta love Peyton Manning and his nine game winstreak.

Ravens at Dolphins

The Dolphins are the other team beside the Falcons that I had absolutely zero confidence in comming into this season. I am honestly stunned that they even won three games, let alone eleven. Crazy stuff. Anyways, I think that this matchup is pretty cool because no one thought that either of these teams would even make it close to the playoffs (including me), and yet, here they are. Despite their big time wins and 11-5 record, I still really don't have much confidence in the Dolphins, especially come playoff time. I love the Ravens D, and think it's definitely one of the top three in the league, and their offense isn't bad either with guys like Le'ron McLain back there, as well as guys like Flacco, McGahee, Clayton, and Mason; all of whom I like alot, especially with them getting hot at the right time. The Dolphins are a young and very talented team, however, I really think that Ravens will be too much to handle on both sides of the ball.

Eagles at Vikings

The top game out of the pool of four; at least for me anyway... Drake will be going crazy, and I just hope he doesn't break anything down there in the basement during this game. All I've heard all year is how great the Vikings are, and how they're the best team in the league (and how their 53 players are the 53 best players in the NFL). Before they beat the Giants in Week 17, I told Drake that if they made it to the playoffs, out of their possible opponents, they would be able to beat the Bears, Falcons, Bucs, or Eagles, but wouldn't be able to beat the Panthers or Cowboys. I doubt he heard me, but with the Eagles coming up, I could definitely see the Vikings taking this one. However, I like the Eagles in this game. For me, this game was also the toughest to predict the winner of because of the fact that you just don't really know if guys like Tavaris Jackson are going to show up, or if Adrian's fumble fever will act up or not in this game. However, I think the deciding factor will be the fact that the Eagles D is just too tough for the Vikes to handle. AD will rush for 126 yards but T-Jack will throw two picks and sink the Vikings ship. Though if the Vikes offense shows up, this game could easily go the other way.

Wow, after a record breaking year and streak, I took the entire month of November off. Haha, what can I say, I'm a busy guy. But yeah, the Titans are 12-1, which is boss. I was able to go to the Thanksgiving game at Ford Field, and it was totally awesome. 47-10 win, and the Lions biggest loss on Thanksgiving ever. It really should have been 75-0, but we let up at halftime, and Kerry fumbled it inside our own 20 after that hit. Anyways, tomorrow we have Houston in Houston, and I'm not too worried about it. Plus we already locked up a first round bye. So, I mean, come on... The Vikings have a big one tomorrow against the NFC West Champ Cardinals. The Vikes are a half game up on the Bears who won Thursday night against the Saints in OT. I'm taking the Vikes in this one though, because the Cards had 6 blowoff games (Rams x2, 49ers x2, Seahawks x2) and they haven't really impressed me yet. As for some other big ones, like the soap-operaed Cowboys in a shocker over of the 11-2 Giants. I just feel that everyone is expecting them to lose, and they'll come over this debacle with T.O. and go out there and win because the Giants thought they had this one wrapped up. Plus the Giants have their own problems with Plaxico. I also like the Bucs to bounce back and beat the Falcons in Atlanta.

Yeah, I just thought I'd post a little reminder/story on here, for memories sake. On Sunday, Drake and I were talking (fighting) about the NFL games that week, and he tells me that Brian and his dad went to Pittsburgh for the Steelers game. I was like WTF??? Haha, but yeah, I then I was like "awww, too bad he's gonna have to see em lose..." And Drake was like "NOO WAYY, they're gonna kill the Giants." Long story short, Drake and I decided on a bet that wasn't to heavy (cause I told him I didn't want to take too much from him) or dealing directly with cash. So we decided on a $3 at McDonald's bet with me with the Giants, and D-Rock with the Steelers. Anyways, it was a pretty close game, but in the end, the G-Men came out on top 21-14 after picking off Big Ben four times. And since the U-Verse guy is (supposedly, haha) coming on Saturday at 8am, I told Drake to have my coffee and whatnot there for me when I wake up. And he told me no way. So then I said, "Alright, if the Titans win, you have to. If they lose, then I'll go get it myself." He reluctantlt agreed. And guess who won and is now 7-0? Hahaaaa. Good stuff bro.

It's the big Michigan vs Michigan State game tomorrow. This is maybe the worst Wolverines team we have seen, ever; and on the other side, this is one of the best Spartan teams we've seen, at least in a little while. Which would make all sign point to a Spartan, or little brother victory. Most people think MSU will take it, and everyone agrees that this is a big game for both teams. But I'm going to have to take my Wolverines. I'm not going to guess a finals score because that would be pointless, but I say Michigan by 12. Some other big games that I have chosen include me taking Texas over Kansas in a battle of ranked Big 12 teams. Let's say Texas Tech by 13. I am also going to have to say that Texas will remain unbeaten and number one when they face Oklahoma State, who is currently number six in the land. Texas by 17. I also will take my national title pick Penn State over a reenergized Ohio State team. Hmmm, final line I'll say will be Penn State by 6.

Ahhh. I don't know who to take in this World Series. I took Philly from the beginning, but I just don't know now. Tampa looked so strong against the BoSox it was crazy. In the end, I think I'm going to have to go with my now feeling instead of my then feeling. I'm taking the Rays. I have to. I'm sorry. The feeling is just too strong now to ignore. Now the question is, in how many? Woooo. I'm going to say that they'll put them away quicker than they did with the Red Sox. Mainly because the Red Sox are better than the Phils. I'm going to say Rays in 6. Just like the Tampa headline read about a week ago when the Rays went up 3-1 in the ALCS, the Rays are "Ready to Pop." And I'm thinking they will. Plus, I'm thinking this time off will hurt the Phillies, just like it did to the Rockies last year. I'm not really rooting for either team in this one, but it should be a fun one to watch...

Yes, I am that guy who turned off his TV in the middle of the 7th inning because the Rays were up 7-0. It was also a school night, and we were having our first full day since Tuesday. I also had a little bit of homework to finish up, and wanted to catch up on some lost sleep. And it was nice to get that extra hour of sleep in. But boy did I make a mistake. I ended up missing the improbable comeback by a Red Sox team that ended up being the best game of the year. The thing is though, I knew the Red Sox weren't 100% dead. I knew that they were probably the only team in the majors, that if put in that situation, could make it out alive. And they did. But I just wasn't expexcting it. Now here's the thing. Alot of people are saying that Rays are still going to win the series. They say that Beckett is injured, which is true, and that he is just no where near the same Beckett we've seen so many times before in the postseason, dating back to his days as World Series MVP with the Marlins in 2003, as well as last year's epic performances. But I'm saying something completely different. I'm telling you that the magic has already begun, so there is no stopping it now. Despite Tampa being next to amazing at home, the Red Sox will win this game. Josh Beckett will show up and be better than everyone thinks, throwing Boston into a game seven. When the Red Sox magoc starts, there's no stopping it. I came on here to type this up because I am that confident that it will happen, that I felt I needed to get it down so everyone can see how amazing I really am.

Yeah, this is just a comment I posted on an ESPN.com thing that was debating who the best team in the league is. They had it between the Giants, Steelers, and Titans. And you know who I took. Haha, but yeah, I just though I should post this bad boy. Haha, and the font is all messed up because I copied and pasted. Anyways, here it is:

Tennessee Titans hands down. I said that even before the Giants got rocked by the Browns. I've been a Titans fan ever since I was nine years old, and I'm going to have to say that this defense looks better than the 1999 defense that took them to the Super Bowl. The Colts are getting healthy, so they should be on the radar eventually unfortunately. The NFC East is also looking like a beast, so a possible Super Bowl matchup with any of those four teams should be feared for TitanNation, but I'm going to have to say the Steelers aren't even in my top five. Injuries and sloppy offensive play has them wayyy down. In the end, my boys the Tennessee Titans are the number team in the NFL, mainly due to the fact that they have the best defense in the league and the best coach in the league.

These two LCS's are looking like some really good matchups, and definitely ones that no one expected. Most people thought that the Cubs would at least get through the Dodgers, who barely made it out of that horrible NL West; and alot of people thought that the Angels would be able to take their 100 win season at least to the next round of the playoffs. Anyways, I don't really want this to sound like a news article or essay, but yeah, I only got one out of four right in the DLS. I took the Phillies to win it all, and they are the only team still alive, that I actually got right. Though, after seeing the Dodger's pitching and bats against the Cubs, I really don't see them falling to the Phils. Especially with Manny Ramirez, who is basically a god in October. Anyways, I'm going to go against my intial pick, and take the Dodgers in 6 in this tight NLCS matchup. Should be fun... Then there's the ALCS. With the two division rivals going against each other in the Red Sox and Rays, we should be in for one sweet series. I pretty much hate the Red Sox, just like everyone else other than those that live in Boston, so I find myself rooting for the Rays. Though I have got to tell you; there is nothing more that I would like to see than Manny go up against his old team, the Red Sox, in the World Series. And to see him hitting homers at Fenway in a different jersey? Oh, that would just be the best. Because I love Manny. And hate the Sox. But in the end, I really do think Boston's experience will win out (just like I said be the first game of the season)... so yeah, Boston in 5. And then? Well, I'm not going to say anything about LA and Boston in the World Series till I see anymore of this postseason. But yeah, I'd have to go with the Sox eventually beating out Manny and the Dodgers... just like the NBA Finals, huh? Hahaa.

Yeah, so it's time for the 2008 October Showdown. Should see some pretty good ball this year, with the Cubs trying to break that 100 year curse, the Phillies trying to win a playoff game for the first time in 15 years, the White Sox barely making in in through a 1-0 playoff game win over the Twins, the Rays in their first ever playoff game, the Brewers making it in with a young squad, fresh manager, and over the collapsing Mets, as well as the Dodgers with their newly traded for gem Manny Ramirez, plus Manny's old team, the wildcard Red Sox. And then don't forget the top dogs, the LA Angels, who won 100 games this year, saw K-Rod set the single season saves record, and went out and traded for Mark Texiera. Anyways, looks to be a good playoff this year, and I'll put down my guesses not only for this LDS, but also the LCS and World Series. Here we gooo....

I just think experience will take over. It's Tampa's first ever playoffs, so you can't blame them..

Angels over Red Sox in 5

The Red Sox will take them down to the wire, but the loss of Manny will hurt too much and end up costing them against the best team on paper.

Sweep here. The Brewers made it in, which deems their season a success, but there's really no question here on who the dominant team is.

Cubs over Dodgers in 3

Another sweep, due to the Cub's first three starters of Dempster, Zambrano, and Harden. Way too good for the LA Blue. Though if the bad Z shows up and Manny comes alive, look for the curse to possibly stay alive...

I don't know why. Just kinda of a gut feeling that Ozzie will be on top of things, and that their experience will pervail.

Uhhoh. The Curse continues. Haha, in my opnion, they just jad three MVPs in three years. With a pretty good rotation and revived closer, they'll get the job done, which a little help from The Curse.

World Series:

Yeah, I'm taking the Phils this year. It isn't really a common sense guess, or anything like that. Just kind of a gut feeling, and really do think that they're the best team in the majors. And I'm alot more certain that the Phils will make than the White Sox making it. To tell you the truth, I have no idea about the AL. That league is pretty much wide open, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Angels or Red Sox here instead of the White Sox.

College Football Rankings: Week Four

Anyways, we all know what happened, down to the rankings. Oh, and it was REALLYYY nice to see Michigan get the win over Wisconsin. So yeah, this is THE game. My team against Drake's team. It's finally here this week, and I can't wait to see the Vikings fall to the Titans. It will allow me to have the upperhand and bragging rights for the next four years, in some regards. But yeah, my score prediction is 17-6 while Drake's is 42-28 (or something like that, with the Vikes winning obviously). Haha, but I told Drake there is NO WAY the Vikes will get more than 20 points on the best defense in the league. It's funny too because Drake is so confident and pumped for this game, but in the end, he'll be the one wishing the game had never happened. Hahaaaa.

NFL Predictions: Week Two

Alright, so last week I went nine for sixteen. Not very good. However, I'm willing to put money down that I'll do better than that this week. However, this week there is only going to be fifteen games because the Ravens at Texans game got postponed due to Hurricane Ike. I guess the storm ripped off a good portion of the Texan's Reliant Stadium's roof. So, since thats going down and we have different numbers and denominators and what not, were going to have to compare by percentages. So last week my nine over sixteen equals 56.25%. Or to make it easier, if I get nine right this week, I beat it, and if I get eight, then I still lose. Alright, looks like we're ready to start...

Titans at Bengals

Yes, so now the Titans don't have Vince Young. So what do I think? I honestly think that they're going to be a better and more consistent team. I love Vince and all, be he's really struggling right now, and I think this time off is really going to help him. I mean, the only reason the Jags got their one touchdown was because Vince threw a pick when he was on his own 20. Plus, Kerry Collins is one of the nest backups in the league, and I really think after he plays these next four games, the Titans will be tempted to keep him as the starter. And on top of that, the Bengals are just a mess. THE PICK: Titans

Saints at Redskins

The Saints are really gonna miss Marques Colston, but I really think they'll be able to pull through. I know they can beat this Redskins team too. I didn't like them at all when I saw them on Thursday night, and the Saints looked good against a good Bucs team. Haha, that's all I really have for this one. THE PICK: Saints

Bears at Panthers

Both of these teams looked fantastic last week, and they both beat top-notch AFC teams. However, I'm not too sure if both of these teams are for real or not. I guess nobody really knows for sure as of right now, but for me, I had the Panthers in the playoffs and the Bears not in the playoffs. I guess that's how I'm deciding on this one. Bills at Jaguars

The Bills looked great last week against the Seahawks, and the Jags looked like a team that was playing the NFL's best defense. Anyways, I really don't see the Jags starting off 0-2. I will definitely be rooting for the Bills because the Jags are a division rival. But in the end, I'm thinking otherwise. THE PICK: Jaguars

Packers at Lions

I thought the Lions might be in the playoff race. I thought the Packers might finish below the Lions. Haha, I'm a funny guy. When you lose to the Falcons (especially that badly), you lose all credibility. The Pack might even be able to take the division over the Vikes, but it's too early for me to change my mind about that. As for this game, well that's easy... THE PICK: Packers

Raiders at Chiefs

A dream matchup. The hype for this game is honestly insane. I don't know if the teams are going to be able to handle the scrutiny. But in the end, I had a tough time making a decision on this one. What made me make up my mind was that the Raiders picked up veterans, and the Chiefs drafted rookies. THE PICK: Raiders

Giants at Rams

I hate the Giants so muchhhhh. Haha, but yeah, the Rams looked pretty horrible last week, and I have no reason to go out on a limb and take them. If the Rams did win this game, it wouldn't surprise me all that much. But I gotta go with the other team. THE PICK: Giants

Colts at Vikings

Ooooh, this should be a good one. One of these highly-rated teams is going to start out 0-2. They each lost to NFC North teams last week. In the end, one is from the AFC, and one isn't. And the Colts just have a lot more experience in every aspect of everything. No way they start out 0-2. THE PICK: Colts

49ers at Seahawks

The Seahawks surprised me last week, in a bad way. I still don't see them losing the NFC West, even with the various injuries. Mainly because there is nobody else in the NFC West. And the 49ers are one of those nobodies. THE PICK: Seahawks

Falcons at Buccaneers

Matt Ryan isn't surprising anyone this week. The Bucs will be ready for him and Michael Turner, and they aren't going to let the Falcons start off 2-0. Because that would just flat out be insane. Because the suck. THE PICK: Buccaneers

I really had a hard time with this one. The Pats aren't going to make the playoffs this year without Brady, but the Jets do suck. In the end, I did one of those things where I play it out in my head. And my head confirmed this equation: (Patriots-Brady>Jets) = THE PICK: Patriots

Dolphins at Cardinals

Yeah, just because the Dolphins took the Jets down to wire, doesn't mean that we can all start considering them decent. No, they still suck. They will still win three or less games this year. And the Cardinals were lucky enough to college-like schedule where they play two crappy D-II teams at the beginning of the season. THE PICK: Cardinals

Chargers at Broncos

The Broncos looked great last week... against the Radiers. However, I do think that they are better than they were last year and will be in the playoff hunt late in the season. Yeahhh, I'm looking forward to watching this Sunday Nighter. The Browns though, like I said before the season started, are overrated and/or will choke. College Week 2 Predictions

Yeah, so this is the game of the week. Actually, the game of the year. It was supposed to be a really close one, but it was just ruled today that Beanie Wells won't be playing. So yeah, not much of a contest. USC was my preseason #1, and I think they may stay there all season long. Especially if they can pull this one off. THE PICK: USC

Michigan at Notre Dame

Not really that big of a game, because both teams suck. But I think RichRod is good enough to pull out another much needed win. Honestly, I'm going to be pissed if we don't make a bowl game. We have to keep that streak going. THE PICK: Michigan

UCLA at #15 BYU

BYU is supposed to be this year's Boise State or Hawaii. After last week, I'm not buying it. They beat Washington because the refs cheated for them. Great job. While UCLA earned that big win over Tennessee. I'm goin with another upset. THE PICK: UCLA

NFL Playoff Predictions 2

You have to give me a mulligan for this. Tom Brady went down eight minutes into the season, and he was the only reason I picked the Pats to go all the way. So, I'm just going to redo the AFC and the Super Bowl. But yeah, that's about it. And I'm really pissed Tom is done too. That partially killed the season for me. I guess it's good for the Titans somewhat, even though the don't play them. But yeah, here it is...

NFL Power Rankings: Week Two

Back again with another edition of power rankings. After a decent first week in games, where we saw numerous upsets and injuries, it's time to reassess the NFL rankings of power. It wasn't a very good week for me, as my two favorite QBs went down with knee injuries. But I guess it wasn't all that bad of a week because my team got a win against a very tough Jaguars team. Anyways, I guess I'll the rest for the rankings part. Here it goes...

1. Dallas Cowboys

They looked legit. They took an overrated Browns team, and made them look worse than they really are. Romo and Barber looked great, and why the hell did T.O. get a penalty for that touchdown celebration? Haha, doesn't matter. These guys are the real deal, and my new Super Bowl pick now that Tom Brady is gone.

2. Pittsburgh Steelers

They roughed up a pretty good Houston team that a lot of people though had a shot at the playoffs this year. And for some reason Willie Parker is really underrated this year. I think he has a shot at the rushing title...

3. Tennessee Titans

Yeah, I put them this high. They deserve it. Kerry Collins will be more consistent anyways, and they're defense is legit. Plus, a lot of people had Jacksonville going deep in the playoffs, and we just knocked them off. We still have a lot to do and a lot to prove, but right now, we're sitting pretty at number three.

4. Philadelphia Eagles

It's either the Eagles are that good, or the Rams are that bad. I don't really know yet, but you have to give them credit. I knew these guys were legit, but damn.

5. Carolina Panthers

I have these guys going to the playoffs this year, and they definitely went out there and proved they're legit by knocking off the tough San Diego Chargers. Even if it was on the last play of the game, they looked really good against a really good opponent. And did it without Steve Smith.

6. New Orleans Saints

They knocked off a good Bucs team, and I really think Drew Brees is going to have a great year. But they lost Marques Coltson for four to six weeks. That's gonna hurt. Nice job by Reggie Bush too. He's going to have to keep that up for the next four to six weeks in order for the Saints to stay afloat.

7. New York Giants

They looked alright against a below average Redskins team. Whatever, I hate them, but they deserve to be here. For now.

8. Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers did pretty good in his first start. And he has some talent around him. They might be able to win that division after all...

9. Chicago Bears

... Unless these guys are for real. They looked absolutely fantastic against a legit Colts team. Maybe Kyle Orton is the somewhat answer to their quarterbacking problems. I don't know, both sides of the ball just looked great. I guess in the next few weeks if it was just a one week thing, or if this is real.

10. Buffalo Bills

Absolutely crushed a Seahawks team that I thought could make a run for it. They looked really good, and are now the (my) favorite to win the AFC East.

11. Denver Broncos

They looked really good too.... against the Raiders. So I don't know if it's for real or not. These guys could be a huge sleeper... or just a decent team that roughed up a horrible team.

12. New England Patriots

They are so screwed. They're season is over. I'll call it right here, no playoffs for the Brady-less Pats. He is the entire team and the entire reason they went 16-0. They do have some decent talent, but Brady brings it all together. They're done, and looking at a .500 season at best.

13. San Diego Chargers

The first loser on the board. They lost on the last play to a pretty good Panthers team. They also now no longer have Shawne Merriman, so that hurts too. But they'll pull through.

14. New York Jets

They barely beat a crappy Dolphins team. They're going to have to do alot better than that if they want to be in the playoff chase. I'll give them credit for the win, but they better step it up in these next few weeks.

15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

They kept it really close against a good Saints team. But really, I still have no idea for what to think about these guys. I guess I'll find out in the next couple weeks.

16. Baltimore Ravens

Once again, give them credit for the win. With a rookie runningback and quarterback starting, they scored enough points to beat a Pro Bowl quarterback throwing to two Pro Bowl wideouts. Which shows that they're defense is pretty legit too.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars

Let's hand it to em. They were playing the toughest defense in the NFL, so we didn't expect them to score much. In fact, their only touchdown was because Vince Young threw a pick inside the Tennessee 20 yard line. Their defense looked pretty good, and I think they'll get better as the season goes on.

18. Arizona Cardinals

They won, and they do have enough talent to make a playoff run in the thin NFC and even thinner NFC West. Look out, maybe.

19. Indianapolis Colts

Looked horrible against a not-so-talented Bears team. Peyton looked kind of rusty, and their O-Line is starting to get real thin, which is a cause for concern. We'll get some answers on Sunday against the Vikings.

20. Cleveland Browns

They didn't look good at all against a really good Cowboys team. And now they're playing a really good Steelers team. They were at least a little overrated at the beginning... but by how much?

21. Minnesota Vikings

The Viking offense didn't look good at all against Green Bay on Monday night. They had spurts with the running game, but the passing game was just really weak. Maybe these guys were overrated too.

22. Atlanta Falcons

Gotta give these guys the credit for the win. We now know the Lions suck, but don't know much about the Falcons. We'll find out real soon though. And Michael Turner was very underrated in San Diego.

23. Washington Redskins

Looked kinda lazy and tired there in the last few minutes against the Giants. But that's correctable. If Gibbs would have stayed, I think they would have beat the Giants.

24. Seattle Seahawks

Didn't look good at all, but I know they'll turn it around. They're good enough to run away with the NFC West.

25. Kansas City Chiefs

I know they suck, but they looked good enough against the Pats to earn this spot. My guess is they'll drop next week.

26. Houston Texans

They got pawned by Pittsburgh, but they're better than that. And they're better than the rest of the teams below them on this list. By far.

27. Miami Dolphins

I gotta give them credit for taking New York down to the wire. But what was that last throw by Chad all about? Haha, that was a really stupid decision. I don't know if they'll get an higher than this, so they should enjoy it.

28. Cincinnati Bengals

Didn't look good at all against a less-talented Ravens team. If they really wanted to, they could pull together and make a playoff run. Because they do have enough talent. But I'm going to doubt that's going to happen.

29. San Francisco 49ers

The only team left that didn't get completely pawned. Can Martz work his magic? Or any magic? I guess we'll find out within the next couple weeks.

30. St. Louis Rams

They might not be THAT bad. Philadelphia is legit, and they could have just overpowered an less-talented Rams team. I guess we'll find out soon.

31. Detroit Lions

How do you lose to the Falcons? That badly? Come on. That's horrible. Marinelli will get fired sometime this year, and we'll go coach searching again. But the real question is, when will they FIRE MILLEN?

32. Oakland Raiders

Not a big surprise. They looked horrendous. DeAngelo Hall may be the biggest douche bag in the NFL now that Shawne Merriman is gone. And he (DeAngelo) looked horrible too. I don't man. And they were at home too. How do they even have a fanbase anymore? It's more likely for the A's to win the wildcard than it is for the Raiders to get into the playoffs. Haha.

College Football Top 25 Poll: Week Three

After a good seccond week of games, it's now time for me to do another Top 25 poll. East Carolina has had a fantastic first two weeks, knocking off Virginia Tech and West Virginia, who were both in the Top 25. And of course we're all looking forward to the Ohio State and USC showdown, so I'll also have to give some predictions for the big Week Three games as well. Anyways, here it goes...

1. USC

They didn't play, but I really think these guys are the top team in the nation.

2. Georiga

Owned Central Michigan and showed that they deserve to be at the top of the poll. We'll see truely how good they are when they get into that SEC schedule though...

3. Oklahoma

I love Sam Bradford, and if they win the Big 12, they should be in the National Championship.

4. Florida

Didn't look very good against my 'Canes, but I think that's just because the 'Canes are really good. Though, they're going to face much tougher teams than Miami when they get into that SEC part of their schedule.

5. Ohio State

They didn't look very good at all against Ohio, though you gotta cut them some slack because they were missing their MVP and Heisman candidate Chris Wells. So yeah, next week when they play USC we'll find out if they really belong in the top five of the poll.

6. Missori

They knocked off an overrated (but still decent) Illinois team in Week One, but I still really think that these guys belong up here in the poll.

I reall like what I've seen so far from these guys. I think that Nick Saban is a fantastic (college) football coach, and recruiter, and I really think these guys are going to continue to improve over the year(s).

Just thought that I would record my playoff predictions here before the season gets underway. And by the way, Mike Ditka took the Titans to win the Super Bowl over the Giants this year. Talk about WOW. That's honestly baller to hear anyone (other than a Titans fan) to say that about our squad. And especially from such a respected football icon. Anyways, here's what I think will happen...

Wild Card Playoffs:

Colts 23, Titans 13

Steelers 27, Jaguars 21

Seahawks 32, Panthers 13

Eagles 24, Saints 17

Divisional Playoffs:

Yeah, I really don't see Tom Brady letting anything or anyone stop him this season. He is as motivated as ever, and I wouldn't be surprized at all if they went 19-0 this year, and re-set all those records. The Cowboys also improved enough to get to the big game, and they are good enough to beat an AFC team... but come on. They aren't going to beat Tom Brady's Patriots.

NFL Power Rankings: Week One

Alright, here are my Week One power rankings for the 2008 NFL season. It's knida tough ranking these guys before they have even played a down of true football. But I'm going to try. I might favor the teams I like over the teams I hate, but hey, that's my choice, and that's what the preseason is all about... nobody is wrong, and everyone is undefeated. Plus, it's my blog, so why would I do what's right anyways? Haha, I will once they actually start playing, but this one's all about me.

1. New England Patriots
You knew where I was going here on this one. Come on. They were Super Bowl Champs last year (basically), and they are absolutely dominant. They lost a below average wide receiver in Donte Stallworth, and an a decent (and now overpaid) cornerback in Asante Samuel. But they still have the best coach in NFL history, the best quarterback in NFL history, and the best wide receiver in the NFL. Haha, I wouldn't be surprised if they went 16-0 and 19-0 this year, because I now Tom Brady now just wants it that much more. And believe me, if he wants it bad enough, he'll get it.

2. San Diego Chargers
Norv Turner is overrated here. I'm pretty sure I could go be the Chargers head coach and lead them into playoffs at the very least. Yeah, their pretty stacked, but they really don't have a 100% Shawne Merriman, which could hurt them down the road. I never really talked about that on here, but I was really happy to hear that news. I know that sounds bad, and I never root for anyone to get hurt, but he is such a douche bag, and is so cocky, I honestly hate him. Especially when he sent the popcorn to Jason Taylor two years ago and Keith Bulluck last year, with a note saying have fun watching us in the playoffs. Wow, honestly, what kind of loser would do that? I would love to see this team miss the playoffs, and everyone in the NFL send him something telling him to have fun watching the playoffs. And by the way, Keith Bulluck and the Titans ended up making the playoffs last year. But yeah, anyways, I don't really like LaDainian very much anymore either because he was such a douche bag when the lost to the Pats in the playoffs, and he whined his way off the field. Anyways, this is a good team that I now hate, but they will never beat the Patriots in the playoffs as long as Tom Brady is there.

3. Dallas Cowboys
These guys were already legit, and then they went out and got Pacman, plus drafted Felix Jones. I feel like this is the only NFC team that could knock off an AFC team in the Super Bowl, if they were to make it.

4. Indianapolis Colts
If it weren't for the injuries, these guys would be number two. I'm not really that worried about Peyton... but once members of his O-Line start going down, it's time to get worried.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars
This could be the year that Indy doesn't win the division, but these guys are going to have to play like champs if they want to pass them up.

6. Minnesota Vikings
It may take a few weeks, but once these guys get going, they could be unstoppable. And again, if T-Jack can get the passing game going, then yeah, Team Purple is taking off.

7. Pittsburgh Steelers
They're always up there, and their offense looks solid once again. But I'm not so sure about the defense. Though Mike Tomlin is a defensive guy, so he (probably) knows what he's doing.

8. Tennessee Titans
About as legit as it gets. Vince is a winner, and their defense is rock solid, plus they run the ball a lot more than they throw, but if Vince can start to be able to pass efficiently, then Tennessee also has a chance to win the crowded AFC South.

9. Cleveland Browns
They were 10-6 last year, and they went out and picked up Shaun Rodgers and Donte Stallworth. These guys are definite wild card material, and have a shot to win the AFC North.

10. Philadelphia Eagles
Donovan is healthy (haha), and they picked up prized free agent cornerback Asante Samuel, who will play alongside Brian Dawkins. Niceee. Though, the injured wide receivers problem may begin to hurt real soon.

11. New Orleans Saints
Picking up Jeremy Shockey and Johnathon Vilma will really help them out, and I really think Drew Brees is in for a big year. I'm thinking these guys are only going to rise on this chart.

12. New York Giants
I gotta give them credit for winning the Super Bowl and all. They're good enough to be 12th, but ahhhh. I just hate them. I'm done. Eli sucks.

13. Seattle Seahawks
Matt Hasselbeck is solid, and you gotta think they'll be playing hard for Mike Holmgren in his last year. And they were smart to drop Shaun Alexander.

14. Buffalo Bills
Trent Edwards is a legit winner that can take Buffalo to the next level. And Marshawn Lynch is one of the best backs in the league. They can make it happen... if other things help it happen. You know what I mean.

15. Carolina Panthers
Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith should pick up right where they left off, they have two solid runningbacks, an above average defense... and they should be good enough to win the NFC South.

16. Houston Texans
A pretty good team that is stuck in the best division in football in the best conference in football. I don't see any playoffs, but they're definitely getting better.

17. Green Bay Packers
Yes, the loss of Brett Favre cost them this much. They must see something really special in Aaron Rodgers that they didn't want to let go... because they threw this season (and maybe a few more) away, and it had Super Bowl potential.

18. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
They have a good enough defense with a below average offense. Jeff Garcia is a winner though. They could make it happen again, just like last year. But I'm thinking not.

19. Denver Broncos
You would think that Champ Bailey and Dre Bly would have been lot better last year. They probably will be this year, and Jay Cutler will be alot better. With a little magic, something could happen. They have the talent.

20. New York Jets
They improve with Brett Favre and others coming to the Big Apple, but not THAT much. Maybe .500, but I'm thinking more like 7-9.

21. Cincinnati Bengals
They have some talent on offense, especially with the passing game, but their defense is just not good enough. And all those problems... yuck. This team has completely fallen apart since their 05' playoff wild card.

22. Detroit Lions
Getting better, and Calvin Johnson is legit, but just not good enough yet. They could fight for the wild card, but I looked at the schedule and settled on another 7-9 season.

23. Washington Redskins
Jason Campbell is only getting better while Clinton Portis can really only get worse. If Joe Gibbs would have stayed, then maybe.... but Jim Zorn isn't going to do anything in Year One.

24. Chicago Bears
Brian Urlacher thinks their the team to beat in the NFC, but not really. Brian Urlacher thinks that they have two good quarterback, but they have zero. Brian Urlacher thinks they have a great shot at getting back to the Super Bowl, but they don't.

25. Arizona Cardinals
It seems like every year is supposedly the Cardinals year. But no. Once again it is not their year. At all. They do have a decent offense, and if they get that going then they could be in wild card talk... but really, no.

26. Baltimore Ravens
Some talent, but they have a first year head coach. Troy Smith can take over if they give him a chance. They probably won't. And now they're at #26.

27. St. Louis Rams
Last year I had them as a wild card. Yikes. I still think they're decent, and Marc Bulger is legit, but they're not really wild card material anymore.

28. San Fransisco 49ers
Everyone says the NFC is wide open, and that's completely true. But I really don't think these guys are in the picture. Their only chance is if Mike Martz and one of those three QBs clicks like magic.
29. Oakland Raiders
These guys may be able to win one or two more than they did last year, but even that would take some magic. Does anyone honestly think they have a chance? Didn't think so...

30. Miami Dolphins
For these last three, I don't really know. And I don't think it really matters either. Haha. The only thing that made me put Miami in front of the other two was Chad Pennington.

31. Atlanta Falcons
Mainly, they're ahead of KC because they're in the NFC, and they have a much better shot at winning a game sometime this year.

32. Kansas City Chiefs
They don't have a QB or a defense. All they really have is Larry Johnson and Dwayne Bowe. After that it's young undeveloped talent. Should be a long season for the ladies in red.

NFL Predictions: Week One

Just hours before the first game of the NFL season gets underway, I found some time to sit down and do my weekly predictions for each game. I hope to be able to do this every week, but I'm willing to bet money that I won't do it every week, or maybe even at all. Haha, but yeah, here they are for Week One. And I hope to get my power rankings in too before the Giants and Skins game later tonight. But yeah, here it goes....

Redskins at Giants
This is kind of a tough one. I personally hate the Giants, and I don't think either of these teams are going to make the playoffs. But the Skins have the new head coach and all, and I really don't see Jim Zorn knocking off a defending Super Bowl champ in his first game as an NFL head coach. THE PICK: Giants

Lions at Falcons
I really don't like Matt Ryan, and I don't think that he was even close to the best QB in the draft. And I am actually liking the direction the Lions are headed. Two below .500 teams, but in the end, I really don't see Matt Ryan leading anyone to victory in his first NFL start. THE PICK: Lions

Seahawks at Bills
The Seahawks are in for another playoff appearance this year, and with it being Mike Holmgren's last year, they'll play just that much harder. As for the Bills, I really like Trent Edwards and Marshawn Lynch, but they won't be pulling this one off. THE PICK: Seahawks

Jaguars at Titans
You know I'm taking the Titans now and forever. Both of these teams are legit, and Jacksonville has a real shot at winning the AFC, but I just love Vince Young and company wayyy too much. THE PICK: Titans

Jets at Dolphins
Alot of people think that Chad Pennington will be able to beat his old team and knock off Brett Favre and the Jets. I'm thinking otherwise, and I don't really see Favre losing his Jet debut. THE PICK: Jets

Chiefs at Patriots
This one is just too easy. And don't even think for a second that Tom Brady is going to sit out or even struggle. THE PICK: Patriots

Buccaneers at Saints
I really like the Saints this year. And I also really like Drew Brees. The Bucs will struggle a bit, especially coming out of the gate like this. THE PICK: Saints

Rams at Eagles
I think the Rams will be alot better than they were last year. I think the Eagles will be alot better than they were last year. The Eagles however, were alot better than the Rams last year. They have the edge in this one. THE PICK: Eagles

Texans at Steelers
The Steelers are once again a playoff team, and the Texans are a young team on the rise. But the experience will come out on top in this one, as well as in the playoff race. THE PICK: Steelers

Bengals at Ravens
I don't really like either of these teams this year, but some one has to win. I'm thinking it's going to be the teams with the quarterback. And the receivers. THE PICK: Bengals

Panthers at Chargers
I really do like the Panthers this year, as I have pretty much every year since 2005. But honestly, these Chargers? In San Diego? Home opener? Come on. THE PICK: Chargers

Cardinals at 49ers
It's not that I think that this is the Cardinal's year, which I don't. It's just I don't really like the 49ers this year. At all. THE PICK: Cardinals

Cowboys at Browns
I really like the Cowboys this year, and I think the Browns will miss the playoffs. But in this one, I'm taking the upset. THE PICK: Browns

Bears at Colts
I was really back and forth on the Bears during this offseason, but I finally made up my mind. Their offense will cost them, and I don't like them at all this year. Peyton Manning won't be that great, but it'll be a nice tuneup game before heading to Minnesota next week. THE PICK: Colts

Vikings at Packers
I really like the Vikings this year, and I really don't think the Packers will do very well with Aaron Rodgers as their first year starting QB. The Vikings won't crush them at Lambeau, but it won't be all that close either. THE PICK: Vikings

Broncos at Raiders
I think Jay Cutler will develop into a fine QB. But they did lose a lot of talent over the last year. However, this is still the Raiders... THE PICK: Broncos

Oh yeah, and by the way, congrats to me on this being my 50th post. I honestly thought my 50th post would occur around the year 2015, or just never occur at all. Haha, so yeah, patting myself on the back for that. But that's about it.

1. The Cowboys will win the NFC East

2. The Vikings will win the NFC North

3. The Saints will win the NFC South

4. The Seahawks will win the NFC West

5. The Eagles will earn a wild card

6. The Panthers will earn a wild card

7. The Cowboys will earn a first round bye

8. The Vikings will earn a first round bye

9. Adrian Peterson will lead the NFC in rushing with at least 1600 yards

10. Tavaris Jackson will show he can be the Vikings quarterback both now and in the future

11. Calvin Johnson will catch at least 10 TDs and show hw was worth the #2 pick

College Pre-Season Rankings

These are my college football pre-season rankings based on who I think are the best teams. So this isn't at all how I think they'll finish at the end of the season, because schedules have alot of say in how the team will do in a season, and I'll do some rankings later as for how I think they'll finish. But now, I'm just doing my Top 15 based on skill. Here it goes ladies....

1. USC

I almost always open up my season with USC at the top. You can never really have them out of the top five, because they are always somehow amazingly stacked. They always have a top notch recriuting class coming in, so they never have an off year. Plus, some of the players that sit on their bench could easily start on tons of other D-I teams. Plus, I really think Mark Sanchez is legit, and they probably have the best core of linebackers in college football with Brian Cushing and Rey Maualuga.

2. Florida

They have eight starters returning on each side of the ball. They have a Heisman winner at quarterback, and one of the best coaches in college football. I was surprized they lost to my Wolverines in the Capital One Bowl last year, but I really think that was kind of a fluke... plus, Michigan was really motivated to send Lloyd Carr off with a win. Florida's schedule though is once again extremely tough, but they may be able to overcome it... or they may not.

3. Georiga

With 17 returning starters and a top-notch quarterback and runningback, I think Georiga is primed for a national championship game. Their schedule is of course amazingly tough, and the whole season may come down to that game with Florida. But hey, they did it last year... they just might be able to knock them off again.

4. Ohio State

I don't know what all this ruckus is about the Big Ten being weaker than all the other conferences and what not. Two years ago, Ohio State had the best team in the land, but got over confident and went into the game thinking they would own, and for that reason they got shut down by Florida's defense. That game always reminds me of the Pats vs Giants Super Bowl. And weren't they played in the same stadium too? Anyways, if Ohio State makes to the 'Ship again, they're absolutely not going to lose a third in a row. Beanie Wells is legit, and they have two good quarterback, in case the first one falters. And with 18 returning starters, they're pretty much a BCS lock.

5. Oklahoma

I'm sorry, but I just can't put Missouri in front of Oklahoma. I know the Mizzou is ultra-talented and what not, but it's one of those things, where you know the team that has always been legit is going to be better than the team that all of a sudden finds themselves succeeding. I relate it to the Cubs and Brewers. The Brewers are alot better now and many think they can challenge the Cubs... but they'll never be able to knock them off. Same goes for the Patriots and Chargers. Anyways, Sam Bradford is amazing, and should definitely be up for Heisman consideration. However, I am kind of concerned about the Sooner's defense. They can't keep relying on the offense to put up 30+ points a game in order to win. If Oklahoma wants to be in the national title game consideration, the defense is going to have to step it up.

6. West Virginia

They have probably the best quarterback in college football in Pat White, and an absolutely eletric runningback in Noel Devine. Though, their defense is about ten times shakier than Oklahoma's is. Their defense struggled last year against seemingly soft Big East opponents, and now they only have four starters returning. Plus the whole new head coach thing isn't exactly a plus. Though I think in the end, they'll be able to beat some easy opponents early in their schedule, then get in a groove. And Pat White might just win a Heisman some where in there. In the end though, it may all come down to the October 23rd showdown with Auburn, in regards to their BCS title hopes.

7. Missouri

Here they are. Chase Daniel is legit, and runningback Jermey Maclin was nothing short of amazing last year. I think that this is a really good team, and I do believe that they have the talent to get over the hump and maybe even into the BCS. Though I really don't see them getting into the national championship game. Plus, with ten returning starters on defense alone, they should be able to shut down just about all the teams on their schedule.

8. Clemson

In a pretty weak ACC, Tommy Bowden has to know that this is his chance to get into the BCS, because when you look at it, Clemson is pretty loaded. Cullen Harper seems ready to take the next step. One of those steps has to be beating Boston College, which has beaten Clemson three straight times since joining the ACC.

9. Texas Tech

The Red Raiders have ten returning starters on offense, including two probable Heisman candidates. They are lucky enough to not play Missouri, but they do play Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. Anyways, Graham Harrell and Michael Crabtree are going to have to step up and lead the offense in their first ten games. They then have to travel to Oklahoma, which may just decide their entire season. However, the Big 12 is extremely stacked this year. Just like the SEC. But yeah, in the end, I don't think Texas Tech can overcome Oklahoma.

10. Auburn

These Tigers are better than the other Tigers this year. Referring to the LSU Tigers, I think that Auburn will be able to put away LSU comfortably this year, after losing on a last second touchdown pass last year to the eventual national champs. And that's saying alot, because the winner the Tigers vs Tigers matchup had won the SEC West 6 out of the last 8 years.

11. Wisconsin

Bret Bielema is a legit head coach that could take Wisconsin into the BCS if one of two things happen. One, they beat Ohio State, or two, Ohio State goes to the national championship game once again. Wisconsin is good, but I don' think they're going to be good enough to knock off Ohio State on October 4th. although some history is on their side, they're going to need some luck as well. Though they are very talented, and could be looking at their first Rose Bowl in nine years.

12. Texas

They return only four starters on defense and only ten starters in all, and they have a very tough schedule, though, it's Texas. Colt McCoy is really underrated, and Mack Brown will have his boys ready to play. I don't really see a BCS bid i their future, but they should be able to compete with the other Big 12 teams.

13. Tennessee

They return a decent amount of starters (14), after going 10-4 (6-2) last year. I don' think they have enough to win the SEC, though they do could always pull a crazy upset. With the Vols, you honestly never know...

14. LSU

The defending champs don't look like they can repeat, especially when playing in such a tough division. Though they are of course still talented nd not to be taken lightly, though it would take a miracle for them to run the table in the SEC and get back to the national championship game.

15. Arizona State

They're not super-talented, but they are the second best team in the Pac-10. They have to play Georiga and USC, though they should be able to get into New Year's Day bowl game, or maybe even a Rose Bowl bid if USC makes the national title game.

Fantasy Quartback Rankings

Here are my fantasy ratings of the current starting quarterbacks for each of the 32 NFL teams. So players like Brett Favre can't make the 1-32 list, but hey, he maybe just be worth drafting if you can pick him up late. Anyways, here's all the information you'll need when you go to draft your quarterback for your fantasy team...

1.) Tom Brady, Patriots
This is an easy choice. I had him at number one last year during the preseason, but everyone else had Peyton Manning and others ahead of him. This guy is still number one, and will be till he retires. And if you're wondering if they'll be able to win the AFC again, the answer is yes. As long as Tom is healthy.

2.) Peyton Manning, Colts
I had to go with Peyton here because of what he already has proved. He has never missed a start, so you know that you're getting a player that will stay off the DL. Plus, he's just plain solid. You know he'll put up 30 TDs and at least 3500 yards every year. Definitely a safe and smart pick here.

3.) Tony Romo, Cowboys
A solid quarterback with two reliable targets, and one being a top three receiver. He's managed to stay healthy so far in his career, and he now has a running game that will be better than last year's.

4.) Derek Anderson, Browns
A tall quarterback that now has two top notch receivers in Braylon Edwards and Donte Stallworth. As long as the running game holds up, there should be plenty of opportunities through the air.

5.) Matt Hasselbeck, Seahawks
This team no longer has a solid running game, and you know that they're going to make the playoffs for sure... so how are they going to get there? Through the air. Matt will put up solid numbers that will once again make him a Pro Bowl selection.

6.) Ben Roethlisberger, Steelers
They will probably run the ball alot again this year, but Ben will put up some solid number with the addition of Limas Sweed to the receiving corps.

7.) Drew Brees, Saints
After a disappointing season last year, Drew should pick up the numbers, both on the stat sheet and the win column.

8.) Carson Palmer, Bengals
With Chad back on the team, and another huge threat in T.J. Houshmandzadeh, look for Carson's number to improve over last years. I'm looking for over 30 TDs and under 20 INTs.

9.) Marc Bulger, Rams
Don't fooled by last year's injured performance. This guy is a fantasy starter, and he goes against some pretty weak defenses in his own division too.

10.) Donovan McNabb, Eagles
Back and healthy (for how long?) he's ready to lead a very talented Eagles team back into the playoffs. I'm looking for at least 25 TDs.

11.) David Garrard, Jaguars
He has an improved receiving corp, and with a strong running game, look for the numbers to pile up. Also, he practically never throws INTs.

12.) Phillip Rivers, Chargers
He looked really good in that playoff run that San Diego had last year. I'm starting to believe in him. Let's see if he can follow through...

13.) Vince Young, Titans
Alright, the Madden curse is over, and we can forget last year. He's gonna rush for TDs as well as throw for a few more than last year too. And I know it doesn't count for fantasy, but the guy's a winner.

14.) Matt Schaub, Texans
He plays against some pretty tough defenses from his own division, but in his second year in Houston, he should be a solid fantasy backup.

15.) Jake Delhomme, Panthers
Before he went down with his injury last year, he had 8 TDs and 1 INT. Give him a chance as your backup, and you won't regret it. Though now, he is missing Steve Smith for the first two games of the year.

16.) Jay Cutler, Broncos
He seems to be a decent backup. Maybe even a sleeper. Who knows.

17.) Trent Edwards, Bills
Solid. Will put up decent numbers and lead the Bills to more wins than you expect.

18.) Jon Kitna, Lions
He threw for over 4000 yards last year, but this year should have a more balanced attack with the firing of Mike Martz.

19.) Jeff Garcia, Buccaneers
He's old, but he's a tough guy. He threw only 4 INTs in 13 games last year.

20.) Eli Manning, Giants
I just don't like him. I don't think he's gonna put up good numbers at all, and I also don't think that the Giants will make the playoffs.

21.) Jason Campbell, Redskins
He's young QB who seems to have a bright future. Though right now, he won't be anything above average.

22.) Matt Leinart, Cardinals
Who knows how he'll be after only playing 5 games last year. And he struggled in those 5 games with 2 TDs, 4 INTs, and a 53.6% completion percentage.

23.) Aaron Rodgers, Packers
Who knows if he'll even be the QB this year. I wouldn't take a chance on him, but if he the starting QB for the Pack, he should be able to put up decent numbers.

24.) Tarvaris Jackson, Vikings
With such a strong running game, they might not pass all that much. Though I believe T-Jack and he might just be worth a last-round pick or free agency pickup.

25.) JaMarcus Russell, Raiders
Showed some promise last year. But who knows... after all, it's the Raiders.

26.) Kyle Boller, Ravens
It might be Joe Flacco or even Troy Smith. Though Boller is decent. But I wouldn't take a chance drafting him.

27.) Rex Grossman, Bears
Maybe Kyle Orton. Don't draft him. And I know you won't.

28.) Alex Smith, 49ers
Maybe he can put up numbers with Mike Martz. Maybe not.

29.) Brodie Croyle, Chiefs
Ehhhh. Not very solid.

30.) Kellen Clemens, Jets
It might be Chad, but who knows? And who really cares?

31.) Matt Ryan, Falcons
Not worth the number 3 pick. Just a bust. And we'll see it.

32.) Josh McCown, Dolphins
It'll probably be Chad Henne or Josh Beck before Week 6. Don't draft any of them.

As the Brett Favre saga continues, you might want to keep an eye on it. I doubt he's going to be backing anyone up, so he might be worth the chance of a late round pick. Also, Tom Brady is completely worth a top 3 pick. If I got the number 1 pick, I would be tempted to take him first. And I probably would.

Roar Needed

Why can't the Tigers beat the Twins? It's honestly getting really annoying right now. They're about to finish up their four game series today, and the Tigers have already lost the first three. Verlander is pitching, and I really hope he shows up, not only because he's on my fantasy team, but for the Tigers sake too. If these Tigers really want to make a run a getting in the playoffs, they're going to have to start beating these division opponents.... especially the Twins and White Sox, who are the two teams that are ahead of them in the division. Caberea has gotten pretty hot lately, and is starting to hit some homers like he's supposed to. Granderson, Polanco, and Pudge are also heating up after bad starts to the season. Verlander is also off his cold streak, and you could even say he's on a hot streak right now, winning his last four decisions and never letting up more than two runs in an outing. The Tigers are seeming to get alot of help from young guys like Joyce, Rayburn, and Thomas, which is always good. If these Tigers want to get to the postseason like they're capable of, then they'll have not only start winning, but also take games and series from division opponents. And they better start fast.

Cameron just asked me where I think Tim Tebow is going (in the NFL). I thought it was kind of a weird question, especially because he still has at least one year of college ball to play.... maybe two. Then it got me to thinking just for the sake of an answer.... where would he go if he opted for the NFL instead of playing his senior year. I would think that if he could match his sophmore stats in his junior year, then he would once again be one of the top QBs in the game. It wouldn't necessarily mean another Heisman for him, but theres no doubt he would be considered one of the best, if not thee best. I think he would undoubtedly be the top QB in the draft, and we wouldn't see some lame fall on the draft boards like we did with Troy Smith. I would even go as far to say that he would be a top five pick like Matt Ryan this year or JaMarcus Russell last year. Then you would have to think, alright, so who's going to have a pick in the top five, or at least top ten. I think the 49ers would be a possibility if Alex Smith has another poor year. And what about the Lions? Kitna isn't the answer, and does anyone really think Drew Stanton is? We've passed over Brady Quinn, Matt Leinart, and Jay Cutler... is it time to finally take a QB? I don't know, and it's a little premature to start trying to guess and predict all these things, because really, anything could happen. And I guess that's what makes sports so great...

He's Wingin It

I just need to say it right here, that the Wings are going to repeat as champs in the 2008-2009 NHL season. Not only do they keep a Cup Championship roster intact, but they also pick up Marian Hossa through free agency. We're stacked to no end now. The only thing that could stop a repeat now is injury. Or Chris Osgood, because he's terrible. But yeah, Hossa is pretty much a beast, and anyone that watched the NHL Playoffs would have to agree with me. Ken Holland is amazing. Best GM in sports. Go Wings.

ESPY Voting

Alright, so I'm voting for the ESPY awards and what not, and I thought that I would post my picks on here. It's been a while, and I feel overdue for a post. And just to let you know, I tend to favor my favorite players and team over someone that might be a little more deserving or someone that I hate. Get over it. The votes are already in. And you're not going to change my mind. Haha, anyways, here it is. And feel free to leave comments about things that you may agree or disagree with, or just points you may have. I'd like to read and hear your opinions. That's about it though. Here's the good stuff:

Best Record Breaking Performance: Tom Brady and Randy Moss

Yeah, I went with my boys here on this one. Tom got his 50 touchdowns and Randy got his 23, which was pretty crazy on top of the whole 16-0 thing. And I'm still really pissed about that Super Bowl. The Patriots aren't my favorite team or anything, because I'm not a bandwagon, but I definitely like them a lot, and I really love Tom Brady. He's honestly like God out there on the field. It's insane. Plus I hate the Giants. And I love to see records being broken, and I thought everyone else did too, which is why I can't figure out why so many people hate the Patriots. And don't try to use Spygate as an excuse, because everyone hated them before that. Anyways, alot of people are going to say that Brett Favre deserves this award way more; and you I say.... okay. Whatever. But I'm going with Tom and Randy. And just for the record I was was also happy to see Barry Bonds break the record too, and he was considered for my vote... but in the end, not really. That Bolt running guy wasn't considered either. Next.

Best Upset: Fresno State

Sorry, but I took Fresno. To tell you the truth, I know they don't stand a chance in this, but there was no way I could vote for any of the other. First of all, horse racing isn't a sport, so that was set aside mainly because I didn't want to see a horse get an ESPY. Next I hate the Giants with all my heart and I am still really pissed about that Super Bowl that ruined the Pat's 19-0 season. So I could vote for that. Then, I live in Michigan and have been a lifelong Wolverine fan.... so I didn't have the heart to vote for that game because it pissed me off as well. And to tell you the truth, I wasn't all that happy with Fresno either because they knocked off my Tar Heels in the College World Series... but I had to vote for someone... plus I wanted them to beat Georgia in the finals, so whatever.

Best Moment: Jon Lester's No Hitter

Honestly... come on. Driving cars is not a sport, because if it is then my mom and dad are like pro athletes. Which they're not. Dancia is honestly hot as hell, but she can't get this vote because she doesn't play a sport. Plus, it really wasn't that great of a moment. And maybe if anyone cared about women's college softball, then it would get a vote or two. But no one does. And it won't win. Give to the kid that beat cancer, then came back to throw a no hitter. Something that even the great cheating Roger Clemens couldn't do.

Best Game: Kansas over Memphis

I had to go with this one. Obviously I wasn't going with Super Bowl 42, so that was out of the picture. And even though I hate Kansas for knocking off my Tar Heels in the Final Four, they really deserved this one. I was a much better game that included a buzzer beater as well as a world champion at the end of it... something that game four of the NBA Finals did not. So yeah. That's how I settled on that one.

Best Play: Eli Manning to David Tyree

Wow. I know this play pisses me off and what not, but I had to vote for it. It was so crazy. Off the hook. Plus, no one care what happened in a Division III game, so throw that one out the window. Also, the Minnesota play was cool and all, but they didn't end up winning the Big Ten Tourney or anything... so in the end it didn't really matter. And although I love hockey above all else and the Rick Nash was amazingly sick, and I could only wish to be able to pull of something that amazing, I have to go the the Tyree pass. Super Bowl. Game winning drive. It kills me, but I deserves it.

Best Sports Movie: Semi-Pro

I'm not really going to go into detail on this one... but yeah, funny stuff.

Best Coach: Terry Francona

He broke the curse then won another. I went with him because he was able to win with young guys like Ellsbury and Papelbon, and he kept the old guys hungry for another title. Honestly, I'm pretty sure any coach in the league could have won the title with the Celtics this season, because they had all that star power, as well as all the hunger in the world. Pat Summitt is great and all, but... blehhh. Nahh. And no way Tom Coughlin is getting my vote. That old man can't coach for his life. He was lucky to be along for that Super Bowl ride. Any money the Giants don't make the playoffs this year.

Best Finsh: WKU beats Drake

I guess I'll go with this one. I mean, NASCAR is not a sport, so that one is out of the picture. game five of the Stanley Cup Finals broke my heart, but hey, at least the Wings were able to win it in game six, even if it was in Pittsburgh... And the Spurs game was pretty good, but there's nothing like March Madness. Even though I was kind of rooting for Drake, I had to enjoy one of the few buzzer beaters of tourney. Good stuff.

Like Nothing Else: Sidney Crosby

I have to go with Sidney on this one. I saw it live, and I have to say it was baller. Then I flipped the channel and watched my Wolverines beat the Florida Gators in their bowl game, so that was a good day. Manny's high five was pretty sweet too, but he barely high fived the guy. Haha, but yeah, once again driving cars is not a sport, and I really don't know anything about this George Martin guy.... so I'm going with Sidney.

Best NFL Player: Tom Brady

Ohhhh, no doubt here. No one else was even considered. And can someone tell me why the hell Eli is even a choice? He is the worst quarterback I have ever seen, and this is honestly pissing me off. He's so bad. So bad, so bad. If the Giants miss the playoffs, he's out of a job. That's so much B.S. Randy Moss doesn't really deserve this though. The one other person that somewhat deserves this is Brett Favre. He took the Packers offense over all by himself. He had a really great season, but honestly, that doesn't measure up to Tom Brady's godliness.

Best NBA Player: Kobe Bryant

I really think that LeBron will be better than Kobe when it's all over, but right now, for this ESPY, Kobe is the NBA's best player, which I think was shown by the MVP award he was given. Chris Paul is also a good young talent, but he really does not deserve to be in this conversation or on this ballot... yet. Neither does Dwight Howard. And KG is behind LeBron and Kobe. So yeah, Kobe it is.

Best MLB Player: Alex Rodriguez

It's gotta be A-Rod. He led the majors in the three major scoring categories, runs (143), homers (54), and RBIs (156). Plus his defense is stellar, he won the AL MVP, batted an above average .314, and went #1 in fantasy baseball drafts everywhere. Josh Beckett is a really good player too, but A-Rod tops him. C.C. had a really good season, so I drafted him on my fantasy team, and now he blows. I don't know if I'm supposed to care about this season for the ESPYs, but is C.C.'s case I am. And just so the world knows, Jake Peavy pretty much blows. Rollins is a good player too, but honestly.... he's no where close to A-Rod.

Best NHL Player: Pavel Datsyuk

This is where you might see my favoritism kick in again, just like with the Pats and Giants. I live in Michigan, play hockey, and of course I'm a Wings fan. Evgeni doesn't deserve this after his crappy playoff performance. Sidney is good, and he's only going to get better. Ovechkin is off the chain, and he'll probably win this. Iginla is a little hack that no one likes, so he won't win this. Haha.

Best Male College Athlete: Tyler Hansbrough

Oh, no question here. There is no way I'm going against any of my Heels here. Michael Beasley is amazing and will be an amazing pro. Tim Tebow is very talented as well, but there's no way I'd ever go against Psycho T. Plus, he had an amazing season and won player of the year. He's my boy, and I'm sooo happy him as well as Lawson, Ellington and Green are all coming back next. We already won the 09 championship. Go Heels.

Best Female College Athlete: Candace Parker

I'm going to sit here and pretend I know what I'm talking about. I've seen Candance play a few times, including two years ago when her Vols beat my Heels in the championship game. She's great athlete and is still filling up the buckets (as well as slamming them) in the WNBA. It's definitely her, and I would be very surprised if she didn't win this.

Best Bowler: Chris Barnes

What the eff? What is this doing on here? I have no idea who any of these guys are. I just picked the guy that looked least like a douche bag. Haha.

Best Figher: Floyd Mayweather

Don't know much about these guys either. I know who Mayweather is, and I know he's 43-0. So I went with him. That's it.

Best Driver: Jimmie Johnson

Well, this isn't a sport. I know Jimmie won two years in a row, but really, I wanted to vote for my dad on this one.

Best Female Action Sports Athlete: Lindsey Jacobellis

They're streching now. I've never heard of any of them, so I picked the one with the coolest name. That's about it.

Best Male Action Sports Athlete: Shaun White

There's no way Shaun doesn't win this. It's all but in the bag. He's crazy good and crazy popular.

Best Golfer: Tiger Woods

Yeah, I skipped a ton becauseI honestly never heard of any of them. But no doubt Tiger here. I watched that whole thing with him and Rocco. Crazy. He's the most insane clutch performer ever. I just love watching him. Too bad he's out for the rest of the year. Watch the TV rating fall when he's not playing. I know I'm not watching. And why in the blank is Phil Mickelson on there.

Best International Male Athlete: Cristiano Ranaldo

31 goals in 34 games. Not bad for soccer. I really hope that flopper Ginobili doesn't win. He honestly ruins basketball. Nadal was a close second. That's it though. I don't know any of the other people in any of the other categories. Thanks for reading.

Game Five Preview

Game Five of the 2008 NBA finals will start in a little less than an hour, but I'm going to let you in on a little bit of info that may spoil the outcome of the game for you, so read at your own risk.

The Lakers will win
Yes, I did take the Celtics to win the series at the beginning, as you can see from my prediction post, though I took them in 6, and I'm sticking by that initial prediction. I think Boston has a much better and much deeper team than LA, though the Lakers have Kobe, who frankly can win at least two games in a series all by himself. Plus, Phil Jackson, who just happens to be one of the best NBA coaches of all time, won't let the Celtics win a title on the Laker's home court. Even though I took the Celtics, it's just too tough to go against the Kobe-Phil duo in an elimination game at home.

Kobe will go crazy
Kobe is going to realize that the only way that his Lakers stand a chance against the Celtics, is if he stops giving up shots, and starts shooting the ball all the time. In Game Three, Kobe had 36 points in the Lakers only win against the Celtics this whole season. In the other losses this series, he never topped 30 points, so he'll at least acknowledge the fact that he needs to start doing it himself, or at least take a bigger role, in order to get LA back into the series. He also was quoted saying that series was far from over, so I'm thinking that he realized he has to be the one to step it up, and he knows he can. I know that he'll definitely top the 30 point mark, and if he doesn't, then LA is done. However, I'm expecting a 40+ night out of Kobe.

Alex Smith Questions

As the first overall pick in 2005, 49ers quarterback Alex Smith already had a lot of pressure on his shoulders. He signed the big contract with the team that is tied for the most Super Bowl wins, and he now has to try to satisfy the fans that saw their beloved Niners quarterbacked by two of the greatest QBs to ever play the game.

To add on to that pressure, he is entering his fourth year with the club with little to show for in his first three seasons. He has thrown 12 more interceptions than touchdowns, completed 54.4% of his passes, and has had an average QB rating of 63.5. Not to mention zero playoff berths in his tenure in San Francisco. The once proud 49ers faithful are getting a little restless to say the least.

Now the question becomes, how much longer does he have? Smith gets a new offensive coordinator this year in Mike Martz, who has a Super Bowl ring to his credit. Martz will come in and insert the same pass heavy offense that we saw him run in both St. Louis and Detroit.

Will Smith be able to run it effectively? The answer to that question could very well determine Smith’s future in San Francisco. His competition is J.T. O’Sullivan who knows the Martz offensive from their time together last year in Detroit. In fact, O’ Sullivan is in San Francisco only because Martz wanted him there. The other QB fighting for the job is Shaun Hill who filled in for Smith when he was injured last year. Hill threw for 5 TDs and 1 INT, completed 68.4% of his passes, and had an average QB rating of 101.3. All of those numbers outshine Smith’s numbers by a longshot.

Though Smith seems like a quarterback that could very well succeed in Martz’s system. He’s a smart drop back passer that can sit in the pocket, throw the ball in time, and even take a hit every one in a while. He doesn’t scramble or try to run out of the pocket, as he has only amassed 339 rushing yards in three years with the team.

Though there are some looming questions coming into this season. Will Smith be healthy and ready to start after undergoing surgery on his shoulder? Will Smith be able to grasp a new complex offensive game plan, his fourth in four seasons?

Though as the season opener begins to get closer, the one big question just gets bigger. How much longer does Alex Smith have?

Tiger Woes

As the Detroit Tigers continue to slip, I have begun wondering if all my hope in this team is going to be let down. Through this tough 25-36 opening to the season, I have continued to say "I'm not worried at all, they're still going to get it together and win the division." The fact that no one in the division was more than a few games over .500 made my theory believable, though now the White Sox have take control of the division with their 35-26 record, which now makes the Tigers 10 games behind the division lead. Before the season began, I had huge expectations of these Tigers, which can be shown by my fantasy baseball draft. I took Miguel Cabrera with my first pick, 3rd overall. Though he has played like a like a 7th or 8th rounder so far, hitting .271 with 8 homers and 34 RBIs. I also took the underachieving Pudge as my catcher, and he has 1 homer, 20 RBIs and a .245 average. Curtis Granderson is also proving to be a bust with his .238 average. Placido Polanco is also not playing to potential with his .279 average and 17 RBIs. I also took Dontrelle Willis in the second to last round of the draft, so I didn't really hurt myself by doing that, but I really thought that D-Train would be having a better year than he's having so far. Although he is still 0-0, and has been sidelined mainly by injury, not by bad play. However, I have since dropped him as well as many other crappy pitchers I drafted (Phil Hughes, Barry Zito [last round, settle down], etc.) and picked up much better ones (Edinson Volquez, Shawn Marcum, Troy Percival, Jon Rauch, and Randy Johnson). It seems so far that the Tigers losing is mainly because of the pitching, which I can agree with. Though, if that's true, then the Tigers aren't looking like they're getting better anytime soon, as they lost Jeremy Bonderman for what looks like the rest of the year due to a blood clot issue. With Bonderman out of the rotation, a 2-8 Verlander, and Willis who has yet to even have a decision, the Tigers are not looking like a team that can turn it around anytime soon. Hopefully relievers Fernado Rodney and Joel Zumaya can return to the bullpen as soon as possible. Though, if the Tigers do want to get this thing turned around, they're going to have to start swinging their bats better than they are right now, because frankly, the pitching doesn't look like it's going to get much better anytime soon, and they have the skill there to be the best offensive team in the majors; they just have to be hungry enough to start winning games with their bats alone.

Game One

Game one of the NBA Finals sure made it look like this series is going to live up to all the hype that is surrounding it. Kevin Garnett had a good game, and he was really good until the fourth quarter came around and he went 1 for 9 down the stretch; and that one was that beastly dunk he had in the last couple minutes, so technically he didn't really even make a shot. Ray Allen was good enough, and he even missed a free throw! Crazy! Kobe looked alright, but he wasn't spectacular either, as he missed a lot of shots that the Lakers needed to make in the last five minutes. Though it seemed like every Laker was missing, and the only time that they really even put points on the board in the last eight minutes was the two or three minutes that Kobe was on the bench. Though the story of the game was life long Celtic Paul Pierce. He wasn't doing all that great in the first half, and then in the third quarter he went down with what looked like a pretty serious knee injury. When he came back into the arena ready to play, the crowd went crazy. Pierce then checked into the game, and knocked down every shot he took, including two huge three-pointers which helped the Celtics put away the Lakers 98-88. Pierce was compared to Willis Reed who came back from a knee injury to help the Knicks win the title almost four decades ago. Reporters asked him about this comparison, and when he reentered the arena to rejoin his teammates and come back into the game, there where chants of "Willis Reed" heard throughout the Garden. However, Kobe and Laker coach Phil Jackson did not seem worried at all, and knew that they would just have to come out and play like they know how to in game two. It was a great game one that made it seem like this series will be yet another classic.

We Are the Champions

Yes, the Wings finally put away the Penguins in game six, though they couldn't do it without scaring us till the last second. Osgood once again had us holding our breath until the final horn sounded. Though luckily this time, Ozzie came out on top, and made the clutch stop that the Red Wings needed again in the final minute, and this time it ultimately won them the Stanley Cup. Zetterberg's game winner was a really sweet goal too, and it has to kill the Penguins to know that that is what ended up denying them a chance at game seven and possibly the Stanley Cup. Z-Money also really deserved that Conn Smythe Trophy, and I'm glad they didn't give it to Chris Osgood, especially after that game five loss. I think the Pens are going to be a really good team down the road with all their young skilled players.... but so are the Wings. And right now, I'm thinking that in the next 15 years we're going to see this match up in the finals numerous times, and this will turn into a huge rivalry with the two teams always meeting in the finals like the Lakers and Celtics in the 70s and 80s. Right now though, it's Red Wings 1, Penguins 0.

THE Finals

Yep, so it's just about time for the NBA Finals to begin. ABC, the TV host of The Finals, got what it wanted with the ever-popular Celtics-Lakers match up. These two teams obviously go back an extremely long time. The most recent finals between these two was in '87 with the lovely Magic-Bird rivalry. Though, I wasn't around during that time to see those games, so I really have no business talking about it or how great it was, because frankly, I have no idea how it went down. Though this years match up between Kobe and the Boston Three Party should definitely be a good one; and although ABC will probably get the highest rating for a Finals series in a long time, I really don't think that any of the games will be all that great or anything. I'm not saying it's going to be all that bad or anything, it's just that I don't think that there's going to be any crazy endings, buzzer beaters, or even a game seven. No, I think that this will be a series that will be decent to watch, though it's not going to be one of the greatest ever or all that memorable when it's over. Here's some more of what going to happen in The Finals: 2008...

#1 Boston Celtics over #1 Los Angeles Lakers in 6
Yeah, I had to take a day or two to think about this choice, but I'm pretty confident in my selection. In the beginning I was thinking Lakers, though the more I thought about it, the more I noticed that the grass was greener on the Celtics side. They have three really good players, and the Lakers have one extremely good player. Boston has a bench, and the Lakers have a bench. After that, I did some mental math and noticed that the benches cancel each other out, and that three was greater than one (or you could even count Kobe as two, but three is still greater than two). Though the fact that Kobe is Kobe is the reason that I had LA winning two games in this series, though I think in the end that The Three Basketeers are just going to be too much for one Kobe to handle, and Boston will be able to win it in game six, which will be back in Boston. Truthfully, I would much rather see the Lakers win it because they've been with each other for more than just a few months, and I would much rather see them win than a bunch of superstars pulled together during the offseason. That's just how I feel though.

Anyways, that's about it. I hope the Wings can finally take care of business tonight and win the cup. If they do lose again, I still won't be that worried because I know that there's no way they'll lose in game seven, if there is one. And if there is a game seven, they better put Hasek in net, because Osgood is just wayyy too flakey. Yeah, and the Tigers blew another game yesterday to the A's. I was really happen to see D-Train out there pitching though. And he did really well with four shutout innings. I don't really get why they would take him out after that though. If a pitcher has a shutout going, then wouldn't you keep him in as a manager instead of letting the bullpen F it up and lose the game for you. Haha, yeah. I'm done though. Go Wings.

We blew it. It was the perfect night. We had the momentum from game four. We were at home. We even had a 3-2 lead with a minute left. Yet, it just wasn't enough. Chris Osgood is really that bad. The goal he gave up with less than a minute to play in the third period... it was just horrible. I could feel the cup though. It was right there. I thought it was all but automatic after we put in two quick ones midway through the third period. But no. Of course not. All because Chris Osgood is in net. Anyways, after the Pens scored that goal to force OT, I just didn't really feel it anymore. I didn't really feel like I was going to see Stanley that night. And I didn't. We didn't. However, I am still 100% confident that the Wings will be able to pull it out in either six or seven and still win the cup, but I'm just pissed that they didn't win it last night (or this morning) when they could have. Anyways, I'm not going to even try to predict game six, because frankly, I have no idea what going to happen. But yeah, thats it from me.

Tonight, The Cup Comes Home

Yes, tonight is game five of the Stanley Cup Finals, and tonight the NHL season will come to an end. Just as I predicted, the Detroit Red Wings will win the cup in five games, so that they are here, back in front of us, their fans. This cup is long overdue for the Red Wings, whose last cup came in 2002, or Hasek's first stop in Hockeytown. Since then they have won numerous President's Trophies, and have been the #1 seed in the West almost every year, yet got upset in the first two rounds every year from 2003-2006 to teams like the Mighty Ducks, Flames, and Oilers (all of which went on to lose in game seven of the Cup Finals). Then last year they lost to a Ducks team in the conference finals. I actually felt that the Ducks were a better team than the Wings, and they proved me right, beating the Wings in 6, then defeating the Senators in 5 to win their first ever Stanley Cup. Though this year was (and still is for one more night) the Wing's year. Tonight, all the fans in Hockeytown will be able to go crazy, and tonight is the Wing's night for the taking.

Detroit Red Wings 3, Pittsburgh Penguins 1
Yes, the Wings will do it again. The cup will come back to where it belongs. We'll see the first goal by Franzen open things up for the Wings, though it won't happen until the second period. Then the Wings will get another goal on the powerplay from Lidstrom. The Penguins will then cut it to 2-1, and with 1:00 remaining, Zetterberg will put in an empty netter to secure the win, the series, and the cup. Welcome home Stanley.

Conn Smythe Trophy: Chris Osgood
Do I think Osgood is just a little flake in the net? Yes. Do I think he is one of the worst goalies in the NHL? Yes. Do I think that the only reason he's doing so well is because of the amazing defense in front of him? Yes. Do I think he deserves the Conn Smythe? No. However, after all that, I think he gets the trophy that dubs him Playoff MVP. Franzen would have won it if he wouldn't have missed an entire series. Zetterberg or Lidstrom would have got it if they would have appeared more on the score sheet. And like always, I definitely think Holmstrom deserves to be in the conversation, though in the end, the voters will elect Osgood with his 13-3 (soon to be 14-3) record in these playoffs. Still, no one really cares, as long as we get the Stanley Cup back to Detroit.

Cup Finals

Wow, this extremely late, though once again I promise I didn't change my picks after I saw the first two games. It's kinda hard to get the predictions in on time when I don't have direct access to a computer thanks to the mom. Haha, but yeah, these first two games have been seriously awesome. My hometown Wings have been beating the Penguins in every single aspect of the game. They've been out skating them, out shooting them, and just overall outplaying them. I completely expected the Wings to be up 2-0 in the series after the first two games, just like they are, though never did I even think that they would keep the Penguins completely off the scoreboard in both games. With the likes of Crosby and Malkin, I thought that both games would be at least somewhat highscoring affairs; though thanks to the Red Wing's amazing defense and Osgood having some luck, they have completely kept Pittsburgh off the scoresheet. And yeah, I still think that Osgood isn't good at all... I mean yeah, that's great that he has two shutouts an everything, and being a Wings fan I'm loving it, though whenever the Penguins have had an opportunity, either the Wing's stellar defense has been there, or the Penguins screwed it up themselves by missing the net or something. Plus, the Penguins aren't getting to any of the rebounds that Osgood is giving up, so the Wings defense is able to get the puck out of harms way. Haha, but yeah, thats what's going on so far. Now for the delayed unchanged prediction.

#1 Detroit Red Wings over #2 Pittsburgh Penguins in 5
Yeah, I had the Wings winning it since the beginning of the playoffs, and I never really thought that the Penguins would make it this far. At the beginning of the playoffs, I thought it would be the Wings and Rangers, and I predicted the Penguins getting knocked out in rounds two and three to both NY and Philly. Plus, I took the Wings in all three series, so if you think I'm cheating because it's two games into the series, take a look back at some old predictions for some extra proof. As for the series, I had Pittsburgh winning either game 3 or 4 at home for the fans... mainly because the Wings would let them so that they could come back to Detroit for game 5 and win the cup at home. It's nice to see Franzen back on the ice for the Wings, and I hope he scores a few more to set some more records that he could have broken weeks ago if wouldn't have been for the concussions symptoms that cost him basically an entire series. Anyways, I think we all knew that the Wings were gonna win this one, and I'm happy to see my hometown team win their 4th cup since I was born.

NBA Conference Finals

Alright, I finally broke the rule. Now this blog has more than the other one. Oh well. This is a little bit late, but I promise I didn't change my guesses even though each series has already had one game played. The Celtics beat the Pistons in game one in Boston, and the Lakers came back from like 20 down to beat the Spurs in game one of their series in LA. Anyways, I got all of my picks right last series, and I only got one wrong in the first round when I took the Mavericks over the Hornets, so I'm 11 for 12 so far in these 2008 NBA Playoffs. However, I am really not confident in either of my picks for this round because both of the match ups are so tight, that it could easily go the other way in either series. They're both going to be great to watch, and I'm pretty sure that both are what the TV stations wanted. And then of course we all know that ABC (the station that will be showing all the the games in The Finals this year) wants the Celtics and Lakers to win out so they can have that crazy popular match up in The Finals this year. Anyways, here are the picks for Round Three:

#2 Detroit Pistons over #1 Boston Celtics in 7
Yes, I'm taking the Pistons. I'm sticking with the hometown team here on this one because I believe that they are just more experienced than the Celtics. They've been here in the conference finals six years in a row, with basically the same core of guys for all six of those years, give or take a Wallace. The Celtics are a great team, and thats why I'm taking them to win three games in this series, though after Boston winning three at home and Detroit winning three at home, Boston's third game seven in a row will just be too much for the them, and the Pistons will be able to take over the game and take the series in seven.

#1 Los Angeles Lakers over #3 San Antonio Spurs in 6
I don't know why I'm going against my pre-season finals pick. At the beginning of both last year and this year I said it was going to be a Spurs vs Pistons final. Last year the Spurs got there and the Pistons just missed out. Though I have a feeling that it's going to be the other way around this year. I don't know whay, but I just have a feeling that Kobe will be able to beat the aging and tired Spurs. It's going to be one of those things where if the Lakers win, I'll be like "I told you!! Oh man that was an amazing pick!!" but if the Spurs win, I'll be like "Why the hell did I change my mind? I'm such a dumbass!!" Haha, well, that's my final pick. 2004 Finals rematch instead of a 2005 Finals rematch.

That's about it from me. Nice job by the Wings getting to the Cup Finals. I'll post that prediction article in a little bit. Tigers are sorta heating up, and they won again today against a bad Mariners team, 9-2. And my fantasy baseball team has now jumped up to 4th place!! I was in dead last for like the entire first month and a half of the season, and I made a few changes, and I'm shooting up in the standings. That's about it from me. Game Seven Double Up

Alright, so there's two game sevens in Round Two of the NBA Playoffs. The Celtics are playing their second in a row against LeBron and the Cavaliers, and the Spurs are playing the Hornets in a game seven as well. Now, in both of these series, the home team has won EVERY game, and in the Celtics case, they have ONLY won at home and NEVER won on the road... So these facts about the home and away stuff would lead many to pick the two home teams and be done with it. Though, I have other ideas. I thought that the Celtics would blow through the first two rounds of the playoffs with no problem. However, they have struggled mightily, and are now playing in their second game seven in two series. As for the Spurs, I also thought that they would blow through the first two rounds, and maybe even three rounds, though they have had some trouble winning at New Orleans so far. Anyways, here are the predictions for the two game sevens taking place in Round Two:

Cleveland Cavaliers 87, Boston Celtics 80
Yes, I'm actually taking the Cavs in game seven. I know it's in Boston, and I know the Celtics are probably the most talented team in the NBA, and I know that even I took the Celtics to win the series at the beginning. Though, the X factor in this decision was the fact that the Cavs have LeBron James... and really, thats all they need. He will once again show his brilliance and win his first ever game seven on Sunday when he (almost singlehandedly) beats Boston with 36 points, 16 rebounds, and 45% shooting. Just watch, because it's gonna be a blast.

San Antonio Spurs 89, New Orleans Hornets 78
Yes, I have just taken another road team. Though this time I'm sticking with my initial pick, the Spurs. I had them winning it in six, so I guess I may have underestimated the Hornets by a little bit, but, I mean come on... there's no way that the defending champs are going down the the Hornets. CP3 is great and all, but they're the freaking Spurs, and the Hornets will not be the team to knock them off. Tim Duncan will once again have an amazing game, and Parker will show up as well, and through those two superstars, the Spurs will advance to the Western Conference Finals to set up what should be a great series against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Alright, as for the two game fives in the NHL...

Deroit Red Wings 3, Dallas Stars 2
Yeah, the Wings will close this one out in five. The only reason they lost game four was so they could bring it back to Detroit to earn some more revenue for the Illitch family. Off to the finals they go. And they'll win in the finals too, in case you were wondering.

Philadelphia Flyers 2, Pittsburgh Penguins 1
Yeah, I'm taking my Fly Boys to win in Pittsburgh to force a game six back in Philly. I'm really hoping that Flyers pointmen Kimmo Timonen and Branden Coburn will be able to return to shut down the Penguin attack. Marty Biron will also have a huge game in this win.

Thats about it though. The Tigers are horrible, and they dropped what should have been a win to Arizona last night, 4-3. Nationals are bad too, but they're supposed to be bad. Haha, yeah, thats it though. I'm out. Peace.

Two Flavorites

Wow, it's already time for the conference finals in the NHL playoffs, and I'm more pumped than ever since my two favorite team, the Wings and Flyers, are still alive. I completely expected the Red Wings to be here for the second straight year, but although I love Philly and think that they're an above average team, I never really thought that they would be here in the conference finals the year after finishing dead last in the entire league. It was awesome to see them make a turn around like that, and being a fan, I'm loving every second of it. Also as a Wings fan, it's nice not to see them get upset in an early round like in 01, 03, 04, and 06. But yeah, I also really think that the Pens and Stars are really good teams teams, and no one has automatic trip to the finals. I got three out of the four series right last round, and I had one right on the money with Dallas over San Jose in 6 games. Though I did take the Rangers over the Penguins for obvious reasons like Jagr, Shanahan, Drury, Gomez, etc. I have to say that I am pretty surprised that the Pens won, though they are a very good and dangerous team. Also, I would just like to say that the Wing's Johan Franzen is on a absolute tear, as he had 9 goals in 4 games against the Avalanche, and he now has a total of 11 through two rounds. And I watched that Stars vs Sharks Game 6 4OT thriller, and even though the Sharks lost, Evigeni Nabakov had the most insane save ever in the first OT, and Turco had some nice ones of his own. Anyways, here are the second round predictions from yours truely...

#1 Red Wings over #5 Stars in 6
Yeah, so basically, the Wings are amazing. But it always seems like their downfall is that they play against a really good or really hot goalie thats able to shut them down. They've always been able to get the puck to the net and on net, but not always in it. Last series against the Avs, we saw what happens when the Wings play against an average goalie. Frazen puts in 9 goals, they clinch the series with a 8-2 win, and it's a sweep. But yeah, as for this series, they're going to play another good and red hot goalie in Marty Turco, who is coming in with five straight shutout periods. I really don't think the Chris Osgood is good at all, and he is basically the biggest flake of a goalie the league has ever seen, but thank to the defense and Chris' luck, they're not letting in very much. The Stars are a great team and will win a couple games, though they will never have the series lead and the Wings will just be too strong for them.

#6 Flyers over #2 Penguins in 7
Yep, I'm taking them again. I'm predicting a rematch of the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals, between my two favorite teams. The Penguins are a great team and will put up a great fight, and will even look like the better team for most of the series... but it won't be enough. The Flyers won't play pretty hockey like the Pens, they wont razzle or dazzle like Crosby or Malkin. Though they will win it. 4 games to 3 games. They'll hit, they'll block shots, and Marty Biron will come up huge, and the Flyers will be able to sqeak by the favored and fan favorite Penguins. It's gonna be awesome... just watch.

NBA Round Two

So in the first round of the NBA playoffs, I just basically chalked it up the whole way through both the East and West, taking seeds 1, 2, 3, and 4 to beat seeds 5, 6, 7, and 8. The only pick that I switched it up in was where I took the 7th seed Dallas Mavericks to beat the 2nd seed New Orleans Hornets. Of course that didn't happen, and the 2nd seed beat the 7th seed, so that the higher seed in every single first round series won. My 76ers lost to my Pistons in six games, and the Cavs beat the Wizards in 6. I said that it would take the Spurs sevens games to beat the Suns, but it only took them five. I really think that the trade for Shaq was pretty much the dumbest thing ever. I don't know what they were thinking letting Shawn Marion go, and... for Shaq? Then KG and the Celtics, also the number one team in the league, beat the lowly Hawks in seven games. I said that they would sweep them, and I really don't know what happened. The home team won every game in the series, and it was really crazy to watch. Anyways, it's time for round number two, and here are the predictions from the master...

#1 Celtics over #4 Cavaliers in 6
I really think that the Celtics could beat them in five, but they're pretty tired after going seven against Atlanta, so they'll lose one game because of that, plus one just because the Cavs have LeBron James. Though LBJ won't be enough to get the Cavs back to the finals, or even the conference finals against a top notch and hungry Celtics team. But, uh oh, if the Celtics are winning in six, then that means they'll have to.... win one on the road :0

#2 Pistons over #3 Magic in 5
I really like this match up for the Pistons, and it seems like they always play really well again the Magic, and run the floor against them. Dwight Howard is a beast and all, but he's not enough to get the Magic past the Pistons. Plus, last year the Pistons swept the Magic in the first round, and all the Magic have really done since then is add Rashard Lewis for way too much money, so I guess that addition, plus the addition of Stan Van Gundy will earn them a win in this second round series.

#1 Lakers over #4 Jazz in 5
Yeah, I really think that they can and might sweep them to start the playoffs off 8-0, but I guess I'll give the Jazz one win in Utah for the home crowd. I like Deron Williams, and I think he'll only get better as time goes on, though Kobe is the best, and with his new found teammates, the Lakers should pretty much own this series...

#3 Spurs over #2 Hornets in 6
The Spurs could sweep them, but they won't... just for fun I guess. I think that once again, the Spurs are by far the best team left, and they are for sure the best team left in the West. Tim Duncan is one of those great playoff leaders like Tom Brady, though I wonder if something will happen to Tim Duncan and Co. like what happened to Tom Brady and Co. in the Super Bowl this year. Maybe, but not this round.

Yeah, other than basketball, my Fly Boys beats the Habs in five games, and are going to the Eastern Conference Finals the year after finishing dead last in the entire NHL. Plus, my Wings are insanely amazing. I tried to watch the whole 8-2 beatdown in game four for the sweep, but I fell asleep when it was already 5-1 in the 2nd. And the Penguins won in OT today in game five to win their second round series against the Rangers. The Sharks and Stars are still battling it out in game six tonight, and actually right now, which is what I'm about to go watch thanks to having this Monday off of school. But yeah, I don't get the Tigers. They sweep the Yankees in NY, then get swept by the lowly Twins. Whatever though, I'm not really worried about them, and I'm still extremely confident that they'll make the playoffs. But yeah, I'm done. Go Flyers, Wings, Pistons and Tigers. Peace dogs.

NFL Mock Draft 2008

Alright, so for the first time in Shane history, I'm gonna attempt a mock draft. I really think that this draft class is one of the weakest in recent memory. There are no outstanding players or superstars that I have seen, and I don't see very many of these players becoming legit pros. I like the defensive backs as well as most of the linemen, both offensive and defensive and defensive, that I see, though most of the skills offensive players won't really become greats. Anyways, the draft is tomorrow at like 3pm, and I have a Royals game at like 4pm, so I might skip my game because I hate that team anyways... or I might just miss the beginning which is like the best part. Anyways, I'm gonna try to do all 31 first round picks (Patriots lost theirs to the spygate thing), but I might get bored or whatever, but I should definitely finish the top ten. Alrighty though, here it goes....

#1 Overall, Miami Dolphins select Jake Long, OT
This was an easy one because, well, they already signed him like three days ago. But yeah, they could have taken anyone and it would have made sense to everyone, because, well, they don't have anyone. Haha, but yeah, alot of holes they need to fill, and they chose the offensive line.

#2 Overall, St. Louis Rams select Chris Long, DE
Yeah I'm seeing a back-to-back Long selection going down here. They wanted Jake more than Chris, but they'll settle for second best. He'll be a decent pro with a Pro Bowl or two, but I don't think were looking at a future Hall of Famer like his dad was.

#3 Overall, Atlanta Falcons select Matt Ryan, QB
Yeah, I really do think that Matt Ryan is wayyy overrated, and is maybe like the fifth best QB in the draft, but hey, I'm predicting who they'll take, not who's the best. He won't be an absolute bust, but he'll be a decent career backup at best. They need help at QB, but this guy is not the answer.

#4 Overall, Oakland Raiders select Darren McFadden, RB
I think that Darren will be an average NFL running back, comparable to today's Julius Jones. He'll be a starter, have his moments, and maybe even make a Pro Bowl or two, but he definitely won't be worth the money that they'll be forced to pay him. Jerry Jones will pat himself on the back in a few years because he resisted the temptation to trade up to get him.

#5 Overall, Kansas City Chiefs select Ryan Clady, OT
This monster from Boise State will try to help fill the voids left by the departed Will Shields and Willie Roaf who helped average runningbacks like Larry Johnson and Priest Holmes become among the elite. He'll never be as good as those two were, but he'll help fill the void, one that both KC and LJ want filled ASAP.

#6 Overall, New York Jets select Vernon Gholston, DE
This former Buckeye, I think, will never become great or live up to the hype of the number six overall pick. Honestly, he had one good game against Michigan and did well at the combine, and all of a sudden he's a top ten pick... Sports Illustrated even had him going number one overall... I really don't get these scouts anymore...

#7 Overall, New England Patriots select Glenn Dorsey, DT
I'm almost sure that the Pats will trade this pick for multiple lower picks, and try to pickup Aqib Talib or another DB, but I'm not going through all that trade BS on here. Dorsey is one of the few players in this draft that I think can really excel at the pro level. More than anything though, I just think that they don't want to pay Richard Seymour the big dollars when his contract expires next year... and if Dorsey proves he can carry the load, they'll be able to feel comfortable about letting Seymour go.

#8 Overall, Baltimore Ravens select Jeff Otah, OT
With Pro Bowler Jonathan Ogden's career nearly over, the Raven's need to be able to fill that void... whenever he does retire. And I don't want to hear all this crap about how the Ravens need a QB now that Steve McNair retired. They have Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith, who right now is the most underrated player in the NFL... plus Kyle Boller wasn't too bad last year either. I like their options at QB, they just need to protect him.

#9 Overall, Cincinnati Bengals select Sedrick Ellis, DT
With Odell Thurman being reinstated, the Bengals pass over Ellis' USC teammate, linebacker Keith Rivers, to help their pass rush. However, with Chris Henry gone and Chad Johnson now saying he's not going to go to any team activies, they might want to think about trading down and picking up some WRs, or just taking Devin Thomas...

#10 Overall, New Orleans Saints select Mike Jenkins, CB
Yeah, I'm pretty sure we can all agree that the Saints need defensive help more than anyone, especially pass defense. They'll also pass over Rivers because of the fact that they picked up LB John Vilma over the offseason... and maybe Jenkins can teach New Orleans' CB Jason David a thing or two about how to defend somebody.

#11 Overall, Buffalo Bills select Devin Thomas, WR
This Michigan State alum isn't the number one receiver in the draft, though the scouts seem to think so, so I guess he's going first. Lee Evans could use him so Evans isn't double covered every play, and it would open up the passing game for second year QB Trent Edwards as well as the running game for second year RB Marshawn Lynch.

#12 Overall, Denver Broncos select Keith Rivers, LB
Finally going at number twelve, Rivers will be a great addition to a defense that should be one of the top five in the league... at least on paper. He'll be a help in getting the defense off the field in three plays, and getting the ball back in the hands of Jay Cutler.

#13 Overall, Carolina Panthers select Derrick Harvey, DE
With Julius Pepper's sack total slipping last year, they need someone to help him out on the other side so that Peppers isn't double teamed every down. He should help a hungry Panthers team get back to the playoffs, and help Peppers once again lead the league in sacks.

#14 Overall, Chicago Bears select Branden Albert, OG
Instead of taking a running back to replace Cedric Benson, they'll take a lineman to try (and fail) to help the hapless RB. He's a versatile lineman that will fill well into the Chicago system and so well in it as well, though Benson is one person he cannot help.

#15 Overall, Detroit Lions select Rashard Mendenhall, RB
Detroit is happy to get what they think is the second best running back in the draft, though they're looking at someone who will need a few years to develop... and living in Detroit, I know patience is one thing that the fans don't have. They want to win, and they want to win now, though this kid isn't the answer. Just enjoy the Pistons, Wings and Tigers.

#16 Overall, Arizona Cardinals select Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB
The Cardinals need defense more than they need offense, and this is the top defensive player on their board at the time, so they picked him. I think this kid will be an above-average pro, and he will definitely help out the Cards defense... and maybe even help them get in the playoff race. Plus, coach Whisenhunt loves him.

#17 Overall, Kansas City Chiefs select Phillip Merling, DE
After trading away last year's sack leader to the Vikes for this pick and a pair of third rounders, they need to replace Jared Allen on the defensive line. Merling will never be as good as Allen, but he can fill the void.

#18 Overall, Houston Texans select Felix Jones, RB
The player who everyone thought was going to Arkansas alum Jerry Jones and the Cowboys, is stolen at the eighteenth overall spot by the Texans. Ron Dayne and Ahman Green aren't the longterm answer, or even the now answer. Jones will prove to be an excellent pick, and the fans might even forget about the 2006 Mario Williams mix up.

#19 Overall, Philadelphia Eagles select James Hardy, WR
Donovan McNabb's whining about not having enough weapons to be a contender ends up helping him as the Eagles listen and go out and take a wide receiver. He will never be that great of a WR, and McNabb only plays the first half of every season anyways, but hey, they did what their franchise quarterback asked, right?

#20 Overall, Tampa Bay Buccaneers select Chris Williams, OT
Since Carnell Williams was injured last year and will probably never be the same, he, Michael Pittman and Michael Bennett will need some extra help, and Williams will provide them with that needed help as they try to compete for a playoff spot.

#21 Overall, Washington Redskins select Limas Sweed, WR
Jason Campbell and/or Todd Collins will need more weapons than they had last year in order to make a playoff run. They also could have taken a DB with the loss of Sean Taylor plus the fact that there are so many good ones on the board, but they pass over them for to fill a needed void.

#22 Overall, Dallas Cowboys select Aqib Talib, CB
With their offense basically set and Felix Jones already off the board, they decide to try to help their pass defense which fell victim to the Giants horrible QB Eli Manning last year in the divisional round of the playoffs. When teams look back on this draft tens years from now, they'll be wishing that they didn't pass over Aqib.

#23 Overall, Pittsburgh Steelers select Gosder Cherilus, OT
The Steelers need to fill the void in the offensive line left by Alan Faneca, and this pick will help fill it, though not completely. Though over time, he will become a reliable and elite player, and will have success because the fact that he's a hard working player that happens to be 6'7" and 315 pounds.

#24 Overall, Tennessee Titans select Leodis McKelvin, CB
Yes, they need a wide receiver like no other, but this pick would completely help fill the void left by Pacman Jones because of the fact that he's an elite player that had dropped very far on the draft board, and he's an excellent returner, just like Pacman. I honestly hope that the trade with Dallas doesn't go through and Pacman stays a Titan and we just pick a WR such as DeSean Jackson or Mario Manningham. But my guess is, thats not going to happen.

#25 Overall, Seattle Seahawks select Kenny Phillips, S
Coming from Miami, you already know this guy is legit. After losing Michael Boulware to the Minnesota Vikings, they could use some help in the defensive backfield, and Phillips will more than help the Hawks.

#26 Overall, Jacksonville Jaguars select Kentwan Balmer, DT
This Tar Heel is almost locked up to become a Jaguar... unless someone nabs him earlier. It's simple, Jack Del Rio is all about running and stopping the run, and this guy will definitely help them stop it. And with the loss of Marcus Stroud on the defensive line, this guy won't be passed over by the Jags.

#27 Overall, San Diego Chargers select Jerod Mayo, LB
He may have slipped on some people's boards, and this may be early on others. He will prove to be a great pick, and will team up with Shawne Merriman to form one of the most feared linebacker duos in the league.

#28 Overall, Dallas Cowboys select Malcom Kelly, WR
They picked up a defensive back with their first pick, so they pass over the rich crop of DBs to pick up a partner for TO. Kelly will help spread the field to open up TO and make things easier for both Tony Romo as well as Marion Barber and the Cowboys' running game.

#29 Overall, San Fransisco 49ers select DeSean Jackson, WR
The 49ers need more weapons for Alex Smith, and Jackson will definitely help out the third year QB. There are many questions about his height, though he will be just like Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers and silence those critics, though his stats won't be off the charts like Smiths are because of the fact of who's throwing to him.

#30 Overall, Green Bay Packers select CB Brandon Flowers, CB
He's not the fastest CB on the board, though he is the toughest. Charles Woodson is getting old and Al Harris got torn up last year by Plaxico Burress in the NFC Championship Game, so the Packers assess this need in the first round.

#31 Overall, New York Giants select Tyrell Johnson, S
After losing Gibril Wilson, the defending champs need to fill that void to keep their top-notch defense... well, top notch. He won't be as good as Wilson, or Kenny Phillips for that matter, though he will help the Giants pass defense stay among the elite.

Wow, I can't believe I just did all 31 picks. Crazy stuff. This years wayyy underrated player that will become elite in the NFL is Dennis Dixon. Last year it was Troy Smith, and don't see how he dropped so far after winning the FREAKING HEISMAN. I guess that award doesn't mean anything anymore. With Dixon, I can see it with the whole injury thing, but still, he would have won the Heisman and a National Title if he wouldn't have torn that ACL. Whichever team that takes him will be very lucky, as long as they give him a chance. Yeah, I'm done though. Peace.

NHL Recap

Yeah, so I did pretty well in Round One of the NHL playoffs with my picks. I had the Wings and Avs winning, though I had the Calgary over San Jose upset that ended up not working out, though that went to Game Seven, so that was a pretty good pick. But I really can't believe that the Stars beat the Ducks in the first round. I really thought that the defending champs would go to at least the conference finals again, and definitely make it out of Round One. Though the early exit really surprised me, especially because they basically have the same roster intact from their Cup Champ team of last year. Whatever though, because I really hate the Ducks, and they really piss me off when I watch them because they really don't play the game the right way, mainly because they're so dirty. And most of all, I freakinggg hate Chris Pronger with his messed up teeth, and always taking cheap shots at everyone. Last year what he did to Holmstrom when the Ducks played the Wings really just made me finally hate him to no end. I also really dislike the Flames and Jarome Iginla because they're a dirty team too. I remember last year when they played the Wings in the first round, and they put their backup goalie in (I think it was MacLennan or something like that), and like 30 seconds after he was put in, he went up and two-handed some Red Wing, it might have been Holmstrom, but I can't remember. And Iginla is just a little whiney hack, but he does have a really cool name.
As for the East, I had the Rangers over the Devils in a semi-upset which was 5 over 4. Then I had the one seed Montreal advancing over Boston, and I had the Penguins over the Senators as well as my boys the Flyers over the Capitals. I was really pissed that I had to miss the Game Seven OT game with the Flyers and Caps, because I had my own game, though I did see the Double OT game, which was Game Four I believe. But yeah, the Pens had the sweep, which I really didn't expect, and it took the top seed Canadiens seven games to knock off the eighth seed Bruins. The whole Avery-Brodeur thing in the NY-NJ series was pretty funny too. But really, I'm just happy my Flyers moved on to the second round, and this is the year after they finished dead last in the league. That was like, the most insane turnaround ever. And I realized why so many people were rooting for the Caps... and it was basically because with them as a three seed and the Pens as a two seed, it would have been the all-hailed Crosby-Ovechkin matchup that everyone would want to see. Oh well though... the Fly Boys are in town, and they're ready to beat someone down. Haha, but yeah, here are my second round picks for the NHL playoffs:

#1 Red Wings over #6 Avalanche in 6
The Wings are too good on the offensive side of the puck to lose this series. They will score at least three every game during the series, and the only reason that they will lose a game is because Chris Osgood is the biggest flake of a goaltender that the NHL has ever seen... and the Wings blow on the road, so I'm sure the Avs will win one or two in Colorado.

#4 Stars over #2 Sharks in 6
Toughest pick out of the four series. I like both teams, and if this would have been a first round matchup, I would have taken the Sharks, but the Stars showed me a lot during that win over Anaheim... especially that they can survive a physical series, and Turco can win in the playoffs. Plus, the Sharks are tired from seven games against a tough and physical Calgary team.

#6 Flyers over #1 Canadiens in 7
My Fly Boys can easily take this series. Though they're like Xavier, and they won't easily take it, they'll wait till the last second, and snatch it away from the top seed. Casey Price, Team Canada's goalie, is way too young (20 years old) to show up a veteran Flyers team thats back with a vengeance.

#5 Rangers over #2 Pengiuns in 6
I like both teams, but come on, look at the vets on Team NYR. They have Scott Gomez, Chris Drury, Brendan Shanahan, Jaromir Jagr, and Hendrik Lundqvist between the pipes. I mean, the Pens have alot of talent with Malkin and Crosby, and I like Fleury in net, though none of it will be enough to stop the mighty Rangers.

But yeah, thats about it... I hope you had fun. Haha, but yeah, Go Flyers. And nice job by the Tigers sweeping the Rangers to get somewhat back on track at 10-13. And really nice job on the win last night where they killed Texas 19-6. Nationals are dead last in the MLB and Drake's Pirates are getting better, but there is no chance at a playoff berth for them this year. And Owen's freaking Marlins are sitting on top of the NL East, over the Mets, Braves, Phillies and.... Nationals. Haha, yeah, Im done though. PEace.

Philly Two Punch

Well, my boys the 76ers won Game One of Round One against Detroit. I really don't think they they'll win another game in the series because the Pistons will get their stuff together, but I would love for them to be able to. It was kinda funny when in Game One 'Sheed like literally went into the Sixer's huddle and started joking around with them when there was like thirty seconds left in a four point playoff game. I guess the Pistons just weren't taking them seriously enough and they paid for it. The thing is though, is that the Pistons are my second favorite team after the Sixers, and I really wanted them to go back to The Finals this year, and I would hate to see my hometown boys get knocked out in the first round in a Red Wings like playoff choke (i.e. 01 Kings, 03 Ducks, 04 Flames, 06 Oilers). I really do think that the Pistons will advance to the Eastern Conference Finals to play the Celtics in the all-hailed match up, despite the 0-1 hole they're in right now. But in other, and better, news, my Philly Flyers finally put away the Washington Capitals in overtime of Game Seven. Despite going up 3-1 in the series, the Flyers let it go to the seventh game, which proved to be a mistake, and pretty costly, though it thankfully didn't cost them their season. They could have been better rested then the Canadiens who had their own Game Seven, but instead the Fly Boys are just and tired as Team Canada. But really, despite Montreal being a one seed, I really believe that the Flyers can take the series and go to the Eastern Conference Finals the year after finishing dead last in the league. If they do beat Montreal, I don't really know how well they'll do against New York or Pittsburgh, but after that series one win, this season can already be deemed a success. The Wings and Av's series looks good too, and with the Sharks and Stars playing on the other side, I'm deeming this a "cool year." Mainly, that just where the conference finals will have cool teams, or teams that I like in them, not homo teams. As for the East, the Rangers are kinda gay, but I think overall we can deem this a pretty cool year with some new teams making the finals on both sides. As for the MLB, well, the Nationals are dead last in the league, and I gotta tell you, thats exactly what I expected. Thats about it now though dog. I'm out. Peace.

NBA Playoff Time

Alright, it's time for some advanced NBA playoff predictions for the first time ever. I kinda chalked it up in the East, but I took a chance in the West. Actually I pretty much chalked the whole thing up but one series. Oh well, it'll be cool when I'm right though...
First Round Matchups:
#1 Celtics over #8 Hawks in 4
This will be a joke of a series. The Boston Three Party will completely own the Hawks in this 1-8 matchup. Bibby will do all he can along with his playoff rookies, which is basically everyone but him. Al Horford and Marvin Williams will get some much needed playoff experience in this one, but it won't really even be worth watching.

#2 Pistons over #7 Sixers in 5
The Pistons will once again easily make their way into the second round. The only thing that I had a hard trouble deciding was whether to make it in 4 or 5 games. Pistons big time in this one, but the Sixers might pull out a lucky one at home for the fans... their first playoff game without AI in over a decade, though the new AI, Andre Iguodala will show sparks of greatness and give Sixers fans like myself great hope for what the future could hold.

#3 Magic over #6 Raptors in 6
I really like coach Stan Van Gundy in the playoffs, and I think his presence alone on the bench is an advantage for the Magic. In the end what will decide this series is the fact that Dwight Howard will outplay Chris Bosh and the signing of Rashard Lewis will prove to have paid off in this series win for Orlando.

#4 Cavaliers over #5 Wizards in 6
The Wizards won't be swept in the first round by the Cavaliers like they were last year, but I really don't see them winning this one either. The Wiz have Agent Zero back and are ready for action, though the defending Eastern Conference Champions aren't going down in the first round, and LeBron will easily outplay Gilbert Arenas.

#1 Lakers over #8 Nuggets in 6
I really like this Nuggets team, and I don't know how they aren't one of the top four teams in the West with the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Allen Iverson, Kenyon Martin, Marcus Camby, Nene, J.R. Smith, etc. Whatever, they won't get it done because they just won't, even though they have wayyy more talent than the top seeded Lakers. Kobe will show why he's the real MVP.

#7 Mavericks over #2 Hornets in 6
What might seem like a big upset to some, really isn't an upset at all. Just a year ago the Mavericks were the top seeded team heading into their first round matchup against the Warriors., with pretty much the same team that they have right now.... plus now they have Jason Kidd. So I don't know how they wouldn't at least make it to the second round... Chris Paul will show some sparks of greatness, but it won't be enough to get the Hornets into the second round.

#3 Spurs over #6 Suns in 7
Yes, Shaq is a winner and all with his four rings, but I didn't like that trade at all. They'll miss Matrix Marion oh so dearly, plus, they're playing the freaking Spurs. Tim Duncan will never allow his team, especially this team with Parker and Ginobili, to be knocked out in the first round.

#4 Jazz over #5 Rockets in 6
I know that the Rockets had their big 22 game win streak and all, but I never really liked this team. And now that they don't even have Yao anymore, so now I really don't like them. Tracy McGrady will still be sitting in front of his TV when the second round rolls around, as he once again will fail to advance past the first round. Deron Williams will be the hero of the series for the Jazz as they once again defeat the Rockets in the first round.

Kansas vs Memphis

Wow, this is a really gay national championship game, I'm not gonna lie. Despite being a diehard Heels fan, and them having an amazing season, I took Kansas to win the Final Four game against the Heels because I knew that they were just too good defensively and just too strong and deep for the Heels to handle. Brandon Rush also continues to improve every game, and I really think that he should win MOP if Kansas wins the national title, not only for his great offensive play, but also for being so stellar on the defensive side of the ball. Memphis has a great duo with Chris Douglas-Roberts and Derek Rose, as well as a great one-loss record. However, I really believe that Kansas will destroy Memphis on both ends of the floor because of Memphis' poor free throw shooting as well as weak defense. This is the NCAA final, not the Confrence USA final. Kansas 83 Memphis 74. Brandon Rush gets MOP with a game high 24 points. He then declares for the NBA Draft 5 weeks later with his greatly improved draft stock because of his performance in this year's March Madness event, ensuring the Heels smooth sailing on their way to the 2009 title.

Well, the Heels had a pretty good season if you ask me. 34-3, an ACC Championship in the tournament and the regular season, as well as a trip to the tournament's final weekend in San Antonio. I thought that they should have cut down the nets in San Antonio as well, but their 07-08 season is nothing to hang their heads about. In fact, if you want to look at the positive side, then the whole not winning the national championship will make it more likely for Tyler Hansbrough to return for his senior season. I would also think that Ty Lawson would come back to try to improve his draft stock for next year because he missed some valuable time this year with his ankle injury. The only player that I think might jump to the pros would be sharpshooter Wayne Ellington, but I don't think he would be a top ten pick, so it's likely he'll return. I think if all goes well and those three players return, we're looking at another final four run and maybe even farther for next season. Anyways, it was a great effort by all the Heels of 2008. Bracket Madness

Well, when I first did my brackets for this years NCAA Tournament, I had a ton of upsets. I had #11 Baylor over #6 Purdue, I had #12 George Mason over #5 Notre Dame, and luckily I changed both of those before the deadline, and got them both right in my brackets. As of right now in my pool with Uncle Pat's work, I'm in 4th place out of 82 people... and the all-hailed Uncle Pat is in 80th place, haha. I made a few mistakes that I hurt myself with, like taking #11 St. Joe's over #6 Oklahoma, and I took #6 USC over #11 Kansas State when at first I actually had KSU winning. Actually, for alot of this tournament I was in first place in the big pool, most of the time sharing the first place with a few people, but when I went to bed last night after all the games in the first round were complete, I had first place all to myself. Today kinda hurt me though, because #7 West Virginia upset #2 Duke... who I had going to the Final Four at first, then changed it to them losing in the Elite Eight to #1 UCLA. I obviously have #1 North Carolina winning the whole thing, though I changed the loser from #2 Texas to UCLA. I have #2 Georgetown going to the Final Four over #1 Kansas, to shape up an Elite Eight rematch of last year between them and North Carolina. I have Texas beating #1 Memphis in the Elite Eight. One pretty big upset I took was #7 Butler over #2 Tennessee in the second round game that will take place tomorrow. In the last Elite Eight game, I had North Carolina over #3 Louisville. I didn't have very much confidence in #5 Drake, so their loss wasn't that shocking... though I didn't think that #4 Connecticut had any chance of losing because of my great confidence in the Big East, so their first round loss to #13 San Diego was pretty shocking. I knew that #12 Villanova had a good shot at an upset over #5 Clemson, though I decided to take Clemson because of what they showed me in the ACC Tournament, and of course Villanova won. Another game that just ended was #5 Michigan State beating #4 Pittsburgh in the second round. I had alot of confidence in Pittsburgh after they won the Big East Tournament, though Michigan State is a good team... And I just saw the ending of the UCLA vs #9 Texas AM game, and it had a pretty sweet finish with Collison hitting a layup with 9.5 seconds left, then the AM guy getting packing and UCLA's Westbrook with a run down the floor and a slam with the game ending. Alright, so today my boys, the Xavier Musketeers, play the Purdue Boilermakers in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. They beat Georgia in the first round to advance to this second round game, and if they can beat Purdue, they will advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2003. Truthfully, they should have been in the Sweet 16 last year, but they lost to Ohio State in overtime because of a last second three pointer in regulation hit by Dequan Cook. Though last year they were a 9 seed and were expected to lose to the likes of Greg Oden and Mike Conley Jr. after they knocked off the 8 seed BYU in the first round. After Ohio State pulled out the miracle against Xavier, they went all the way to the Championship Game before they lost to the two time champion Florida Gators. I think that they'll be able to knock off the 6th seeded Boilermakers, as long as they show ready to play a full 40 minutes of basketball, but I'll tell you what, if they show up and halfass it like they did for some of the game against 14th seeded Georgia, they won't be able to pull out a win against a much better 6th seeded Purdue team who destoyed Baylor in their opening round game. No Three-Peat

With that loss to Alabama in the SEC tourney, there is no way in my mind that Florida is getting into the tourney this year to attempt a three-peat. And with Arizona State losing a close one to USC, they now shouldn't really be in either. I now think that Ohio State deserves to get in, but if ASU is really close with a lesser qualified team for that last spot, I think they might deserve it, because I actually watched that game, and that was a clean dunk to tie the game with 17 seconds left, though the refs made a controversial call and called it no basket. Ohio State also plays Michigan State in the Big Ten Tourney tomorrow, which will be the first game in the tourney for each of them. If Ohio State does win tomorrow though against a ranked Michigan State team for the second time this season, then they undoubtedly deserve to be in the field of 65. Also, I definitely feel that St. Mary's deserves to get in as well due to their tremendous early season play against legit non-conference teams. Also, West Virginia cemented a place in the tourney today when they upset 15th ranked UConn in the second round of the Big East tournament. I'm not too sure about Baylor though, who at 21-10 lost in double OT to a below .500 Colorado team. And one last thing, I loved Michigan's "upset" win over Iowa and I hope they can keep the season going tomorrow vs Wisconsin at noon... and Illinois didn't show much promise either as they won their first round game against Penn State with a layup with 3 seconds left. Bubble Busted

I really believe now, since they got thumped by 19 by Villanova in the first round of the Big East tourney, that Syracuse 100% does not belong in the NCAA Tournament... or at least not over the other on the bubble teams like Ohio State, VCU, St. Mary's, Southern Alabama, Florida, all the Pac-10 teams except Oregon State (haha), etc. Really, before I begin to make final judgments I want to see the confrence tournaments play out, though I really like Ohio State, Villanova and St. Mary's... though I'm not too sure about Florida and VCU, even though I completely loved and called that upset over Duke in the first round of the tourney last year. Sickkk. As for Southern Alambama, they have a pretty good record and some legit out of conference wins, though I haven't really seen them play that much, so I don't want to pass judgment... though not winning their weak confrence tournament looked kinda shady, though I think in the end the voters like the small conference team better than the large conference ones, especially after what George Mason did in 2006. Joey Harrington is just one of those quarterbacks... picked third overall by the Detroit Lions in the 2002 NFL Draft out of Oregon, he showed great promise, though I think we all felt bad for him because of the team that selected him. He's not a real big interception thrower, and has steadily improved and managed his game over the years. In his third year in Detroit, he threw for 19 TDs and only 12 INTs and over 3000 yards for the first time in his career. He showed great progress, though he was fatefully let go by the Lions after a mediocre fourth season with 12 TDs and 12 INTs. After his departure he took a job in Miami as Daunte Culpepper's new backup, and after Culpepper went down with injuries for the second consecutive year, Joey was there for the below average Dolphins squad and threw for 12 TDs and 15 INTs, though he owned the Lions in a Thanksgiving Day game at Ford Field, with 3 TDs and 213 yards. After one year in Miami, Joey was let go due to salary cap issues. He was then signed by the Atlanta Falcons in the offseason for a replacement QB for the jailbroken Michael Vick. After playing with nearly zero talent around him, he was relplaced by Chris Redman with four games remaining. Just this week, the Falcons cut Joey from their roster... though just today the Falcons resigned him to a cheaper contract than the one they signed him to in the beginning of 2007, which was worth $6 million over two years. Anyways, in the end, I think that Joey really is a pretty good quarterback with alot of potential... though he has only played for terrible teams through his six year career. In my opinion, if you put him on say... Jacksonville or Clevland, he could play just as well as Anderson, and almost as well as Garrard. I mean, he wasn't picked third overall for nothing, and if he was a total bust, then he would be out of the league by now. I think teams like Arizona should definitely look into picking him up in the near future if Warner shows a decrease in prod uctivity. However, now he is stuck with the lowly Falcons. Maybe the addition of Michael Turner can open up the passing game for Joey, if he's lucky enough to get the chance to play. I by no means think that Joey is anywhere near the elite of NFL QBs like Manning (Peyton, not Eli), Brady, Romo, or used to be Favre... I'm just saying that he's still a young QB in this league, and I think that he deserves a chance to start on good team; and I'm implying that if he gets that chance, he would flourish with the opportunity. George Mason

I'm happy to see George Mason back in the NCAA Tourney after making it to the Final Four in 2006, then not making the field of 65 last year. I know the chances are pretty much even slimmer than they were last time, but I think in the back of everybody's mind, they're going to be thinking about and dreaming about another George Mason upset run. When they did go to the Final Four in 2006, it's not like they had an easy road there. In their four tournament wins, they knocked off Michigan State, North Carolina, a good Witchita State team, and the #1 seed UConn Huskies. With the field of teams this year, I can see an underdog like GMU surviving up until the Elite Eight, such as Xavier did in 2003. Though, unlike last year, I really can see a somewhat underdog team advancing even farther than the Elite Eight. Not a complete underdog like GMU was and still is this year, but more of a team like Butler or this year's Xavier squad. As for Drake, I would love to see them get to the Final Four, but I really doubt that they'll even survive the first weekend, and I don't see them making the Sweet Sixteen. As for the bubble teams, I really would like to see Florida come back and try to defend its title, but I don't think that they're good enough to even win a game in the tourney, and the selection crew should therefore instead go with Ohio State or one of the Pac-10 teams like Arizona or Oregon. I also really think that St. Mary's deserves to get in, as does Ohio State if they can at least win a game or two in the Big 10 tournament, but really in the end, all of it is really irrelevant because North Carolina will be the team to take home the National Championship trophy. Just watched the UNC-Duke game. It was pretty baller and had me on the edge of my seat until about the last minute, when I basically knew it was over. UNC showed their superiority on both sides of the ball, by being up a dozen at the Half, and then blanking Duke for the last 5:42. That win basically proved to me that UNC is the most superior team in the nation, and I am now convinced that they will win the National Championship this year. Their loss to Duke in Chapel Hill was only because they didn't have starting PG Ty Lawson, and as Dick Vitale says, "You must have elite PG play to win at the college level." This is absolutely true, and it was shown tonight when Lawson was back on the floor. As for the loss against Maryland, well, every team has a bad game or two. Another reason that I am convinced that UNC will win the tourney this year, is the fact that they are 13-0 on the road, which shows that they have the mental toughness and experience that it will take to win once they arrive in San Antonio for this years Final Four. Depending on how the brackets fill up, my other three teams to reach the Final Four this year are Memphis, UCLA, and Georgetown, with UNC beating UCLA in the Championship. Anyways, it was nice to see UNC take it to the Blue Devils, and I cant wait to watch them win the rest of their games, both in the ACC Tournament, and in the March Madness NCAA Tournament. I cannot believe that the Vikings beat the Chargers. I told Drake all weekend to not get all excited, but he did anyways. When the Chargers scored on the opening possession, I told him it was over, and he was starting to buy into it. But then rookie runningback Adrian Peterson went for an NFL single-game record 296 yards and 3 TDs and helped the Vikes take it home 35-17. Luckily the Titans won 20-7 over my second favorite team the Panthers, and the Vikes are still 3-5 while the Titans are now 6-2. The Patriots vs Colts game was pretty sweet with the whole 8-0 vs 7-0 thing, and the fact that the Pats came back and won, which now leads me to believe 100% that the Pats will go 19-0 this year. Woah, the Rockies are in the World Series against the come from behind Red Sox. THe Flyers are 6-1 after having only 15 total wins all last year. Oh, and the title of this entry is from Dane Cook's MLB Postseason commercials on TBS. ANyways, uhhh, the Minnesota Wild are still undefeated at 7-0-1, and Drake's Vikings are 2-4 and the bottom of the NFC North. My Titans are 4-2 and tied for 2nd in the AFC South. Well, since we're tied with the Jags and we beat them head-to-head, I guess we have the tiebreaker, huh? Vince sat out during last Sunday's (close call) win over the Texans 38-36 where Robert Bironas kicked like, 7 FGs. Insane, including the final-seconds game winner after entering the 4th quarter with a 25 point lead. Other than that though, theres not too much going on. Michigan won 6 in a row to move up to 6-2, and Ohio State is number 1 again at 8-0, with Boston College (?) as number 2 as another undefeated team. Arizona State is undefeated and number 4 after 7-1 LSU. The only other unbeatens are Kansas and Hawaii, neither of which are in the Top 10. Anyways though, I guess this year is really screwed up. The NBA still hasnt started, and I'm pretty pumped for this year's NCAA basketball where UNC is going to not only win the gold, but own the gold. Our LHA Sharks team is 1-1-2, but we should totally be at least 3-1. Alright, thats it for me, peace brosifs.

Wow, well I just typed this whole thing about the two hockey games that I watched last night, and the gay ass window Xed itself out. Basically, I just talked about Michigan State's National Championship win over Boston College in a 3-1 thriller as well as the Toronto Maple Leafs win over the Montreal Canadiens in a virtual playoff matchup. The Leafs won, keeping themselves alive and eliminating the Habs. Today though, the NY Islanders won in a shootout, eliminating the Maple Leafs and taking the 8th and final playoff spot. The thing is though, is that if the Canadiens would have won that game vs the Leafs, they would have knocked out the Islanders and have taken the 8th playoff spot. The freakin Canadian people are kicking themselves for knocking themselves out. Haha. Wings just barley lost the President's Trophy to the Sabers. They each had 113 points but the Sabers had 53 wins while the Wings had only 50. Looks like the Wings are gonna be playing the Calgary Flames in the 1st round. I can totally see em falling again in the first round to a tough Canadain team.

NFC and AFC Championships

Alright, tomarrow is the NFC and AFC Championship games. First, at 3pm, we have the NFC matchup which places the topseed Chicago Bears against the underdog feelgood story of the year, second-seeded New Orleans Saints. Not only do I (and everyone else not in a city named Chicago) want the Saints to maul the Bears, I also beleive the can and will. The Bear's D is not as great as everyone has made it out to be, and has despratley stuggled in the last couple weeks, including last week's squeakby OT win against the Seattle Seahawks. Another factor that will lead toward a Bears loss is the fact that they have a random bum they pulled off the street in their starting QB spot. Rex Grossman won't kill them, though he will be a main factor in the Bear's loss. For the Saints, even though they are going up against a somewhat tough D, they have so many offensive weapons, they cannot and will not be stopped. When look at the fact they have shouldbe MVP Drew Brees at QB, then the best RB duo in the league with Reggie Bush and Deuce McAllister, and on top of that they have WRs Joe Horn, Marques Colston and that Copper dude, you notice that they will not score less than 20 points. Personally, I think they'll go over 30. FINAL SCORE: New Orleans 34, Chicago Bears 27
Now with the AFC Championship game. Its that old great rivalry we've all grown accustomed to... the Indianapolis Colts against the New England Patriots. I honestly don't know why there is even a debate about this game. Tom Brady cannot and will not lose in the playoffs. His one belmish in his 12-1 record was completley because of a) the refs (calling that Champ Bailey fumble out on the 1 yard line instead of a touchback which would have given the Pats the ball back on their own 20. With the call they made, they setup a Broncos TD that would be scored on the very next play (Mike Anderson 1-yard rushing TD) and b) all of those freaking fumbles, I think there was like 4 of them by his retarded teamates. The only way the Pats lose is if 1) the refs cheat him out of it again 2)his teamates lose it for him, or 3) he gets injured. So, basically even if Peyton Manning has the game of the century, the Pats will still win because they are amazing, and completley unbeatable in postseason play. Plus, you have to acknowledge the fact that either (or both) Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy are cursed in the playoffs. Indy's only advantage is home field advantage, but that will be no where near enough. FINAL SCORE: New England 37, Indianapolis 27
Now, other than football, I went to the Wings game on Wednesday when the beat the Nashville Predators 5-3 at the Joe. The Pistons made an amazing move with signing Chris Webber for the minimum wage salary (veterans minimum). Though Chris probably doesn't really care about that because the 76ers have to pay him $39 million over the next two years even though hes on the Pistons. Carmelo only has one game left on his 15 game suspension that he got for sucker punching that Knick's guy during that semi-brawl. Once he gets back, its all over for the NBA because him and AI will take the Nuggets the distance. Also, I thought it was pretty funny last night in the Spurs vs Hornets game, that Chris Paul was sitting out on the bench in his suit and tie (due to injury) and he mouthed off to the ref and got ejected, even though he wasnt in uniform. The Tigers resigned Frenando Rodney, Omar Infanate and other Tigers to extensions. Jeff Simajirza, Norte Dame pictcher and WR, chose to sign a 5 year $10 million contract with the Chicago Cubs, rather than enter this years NFL Draft. Jeff was the Cubs 5 round pick in this years past amateur draft. Big mistake on Jeff's part, but eh, if thats what he wants to do than so be it. The Chargers (yes, back to the NFL) offensive coordinator Cam Cameron is now the Miami Dolphins new head coach. He did a good job with Brees and Rivers, but I just dont think hes ready for an NFL coaching job just yet. It has also been said that the Pittsburgh Steelers chose Minnesota Vikings Defensive coordinator Mike Tomlin to succeed Bill Cowher as the Steeler's new head coach. What the? The Tigers start off 5-0 with Chris Shelton hitting .700? Even though that news is now drowned out with them losing 2 straight and Chris Shelton goin 1 for 8. But hey, this is the best start in years so ya cant complain. The Yankees are doin terrible too, now at 2-4 and the bottom of the division. How does that happen when you have the best players in the game? I dunno, but they need to change some stuff up with that record.
The Wings are still in 1st place after 2 wins in 2day days, both against the Blue Jackets. Flyers are now healthy and have locked up a playoff spot, and are currently place at 5th in the East. Well, i guess thats it other than Ben Wallace refusing to back into the game against Orlando after Flip Saunders benched him. Whata whiner. Peace

Damn, I forgot to post yesterday, and by the way even though I did get both of my Final Four games wrong, i did get the finals right when I took Florida over UCLA. I knew that there was no way that UCLA was gonna win the whole thing.
Well, the Wings won lastnight in a shootout against Calgary, and now they have 112 points, and in 2nd place is the Senators with 107. They better win that damn presidents trophy. Though my Philadelphia Flyers are falling behind. They were 3rd in the East and have now slipped to 5th with 92 points. Also, Drake's favorite team the Blue Jackets have been eliminated from playoff contention, as they have 67 points, 3rd worst in the West.
After the Piston won their last 4 games, they clinched the Eastern Confrence Title, as they are now 11 games ahead of Miami. Rasheed Wallace was also suspended for 1 game for recieving his 16th technical foul of the year. With him gone, that ends the Pistons 73 game streak of having their regular 5 starters in (Billups, B. Wallace, R. Wallace, Hamilton and Prince). McDyess is expected to take his starting spot. Also, with my team the 76ers winning there last two games, puts them at the record of 34-38, which puts them 1 1/2 games ahead of the 9th place Bulls (33-40) for the last remaining playoff spot in the East.
Well right now AI is 1.9 points per games behind Kobe. AI has 32.9 while Kobe is up with 34.8. I dont think AI will catch up, though I'm hoping that he can with the few remaining games. Among leaders in other categories theres Kevin Garnett leading in rebounds per game with 12.5, just haead of Dwight Howard with 12.3. Steve Nash is leading in assists per games with 10.5. Shaq has the best fieldgoal percentage with 59.021%. Marcus Camby is leading in blocks per game with 3.32, and Gerald Wallace is leading in steals per game with 2.47. Well, Im done, peace

YES!!! Today is the day of the 2006 Final Four. Well, let me restate that I'm taking LSU over UCLA (I have $2 on em with Banish) and George Mason over Florida (not confident enough to bet). And if I am right on both of those I'm taking LSU over George Mason in the finals.
Man the Sixers are slipping too. They're just barley holding onto that last spot in the East. Though as long as they're not 9th in the East, I'm happy.
Wing have now locked up a playoff berth, and its easy riding from now on, while other teams fight for the last remaining spots. They are the President Cup favorites, which would garauntee them home ice throughout the playoffs, and I'm hoping they will.
Today is also the day of the U of M Hospital Employee hockey game with the annual Pills vs Blades game. GO BLADES BABY. The three last games have ended in ties, and if this one does, man am I gonna be pissed.

NFL Preview

How bout we talk some NFL today eh? Man, I'm so happy that the Lions picked up Kitna, that guy is pretty sweet dude, if you saw em against Pittburgh in the Wild Card round of the playoffs this year when Carson Palmer tore his ACL during the 2nd play of the game. Even though they lost to the eventual champs, he had a sweet game completing some sweet passes even with Chris Henry out of the game (was hurt on the same play as Palmer, the one where Plamer threw to him) and Chad Johnson looking like an elementary school kid trying to catch for the first time (sucking). Well, I'm not sayin the Lions are playoff worthy, but they'll be better than 6-10 as long as no key guys get injured.
How bout those other moves too eh? Culpepper to the Dolphins for a second-round pick? Brees signing as big a' deal as Tom Brady, even though he completley destroyed his shoulder in the last game of the season against Denver? TO to the Cowboys? It was kind of like the offseason of the NHL this year. The NHL had a ton more changes, but this is pretty big for the NFL. I've never seen such a large amount of players change teams in a single season in NFL history. And dont forget we still have the draft to go, with more aquistions and moves awaiting us. And now that the Saints picked up Brees, as well as the Texans exersizing their option on David Carr, the Titans will have the first choice of any QB they want. They had better either take Leinart or Young, if they take that damn Vanderbilt guy (Jay Cutler) man am I gonna go crazy. How the hell is he so highly ranked? They went like 4-11 or something, why is he one of the top 3 QB's in the draft? What did he ever do to get even considered by the Titans to be taken over Matt Leinart or Vince Young? Though to tell you the truth, I think they're gonna take Young. They had so much success with McNair before they got rid of every superstar but him that they're gonna want another rushing QB to replace him. No regular QB is ever gonna good for sure, only the rushing QBs have a small bit of future proimsed to them unless injurt falls upon them. I'd take Vince Young, and think the Titans are going to too, espesically considering that McNair will be there with him for a full season, to take him under his wing and show him the ropes of a rushing QB.
By the way, did you know that George Mason made the Final Four in 2000 as well? Wow, that name (Patriots) has some luck in it.
Well, the lazy-assed Pistons are playing the 2nd ranked Mavs tonite. I think they actually just got bored of constantly winning. Wow, well, if they play tonite like they've been playing latley, they're gonna get destroyed, but who cares, they already have a garanteed playoof spot right?

Losing Money and Pride

Alright, i went 1 for 4 in the Final Four, and my brackets are done. I took Villinova, Texas, Gonzaga and North Carolina in my Final Four, and this weekend i took Villinova (wrong), Texas (wrong), Memphis (wrong) and George Mason (yay). Wow, well now im takin George Mason over Florida and LSU over UCLA (I bet Banish $2 that LSU wood win). Then after im takin LSU over George Mason and ending thier Cinderella run in the last game. Well, better luck next year with my brackets, though if my trend follows, I'm gonna suck huge. I've filled out brackets 3 times, and the 1st time I didnt know what I was doing, and I got all Final Four right as well as the champion (UConn). Last year I had two out of the Final Four (Illini and North Carolina) as well as the correct champoinship and champoin. This year I have nothing and I lost for the first time ever to my uncle by a single pick. Well, thats all folks. Better luck next year for the Heels, haha, peace
